Box 513 Grand Island, New York 14072 www.sandybeachyachtclub.com From The Women's Organization: Special thanks to all the ladies in the Women’s Organization who helped with our Father’s Day TGIF. We had a great Club turnout and we appreciate your continued support. Everyone enjoyed the delicious Chiavetta chicken, being with their family and friends, sitting outside to eat & later on enjoying a bonfire. It was a wonderful, fun-filled evening! Thank you! Our Potluck Dinner, chaired by Margot & Lew Smith will be on Saturday, July 4. The cost is $5.00 per person and a dish to pass. Please RSVP to Margot at 691-7626. This is where our members bring their favorite dishes…it’s like the “Taste of the Yacht Club”. Always a delicious event! Our charity for the months of May and June was the Chairi Foundation in support of Kathy Podgorny’s granddaughter. Please contact any Board Member if you have any suggestions. We won’t be meeting during the summer months. Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 10 th at 6:30 pm. Please join us! Wishing you a great time this summer. See you on the water! Claudia O’Neil - President From the Rear-Commodore: The 76 th Boating Season at Sandy Beach is underway and thanks to our Tuesday night crew there are several projects that are nearing completion. The patio bricks have been power washed and are now awaiting sand. It was a sight to behold watching our Commodore Kevin O’Neil pressure-wash the bricks, as all of the mud that was formerly between them ended up all over him. The wiring and outlet fixtures for the trees lining the outer lot have been installed (thanks to F/C Dave Krotz and Tr. Steve Vathy) and the trench has been backfilled. In the coming weeks grass will be planted and plaques will be erected acknowledging the members who have sponsored the tree plantings. Flowers have been planted along the inner lot fence and around the flag pole. Our greening efforts will not be complete until the mulch is removed from the garage area, and replaced with rubber mulch or decorative stone (on the advice of House Committee member and Fire Captain Dave Ashby). John Ventry and Mike Lacki are adding decorative brick to the fire pit toward making this area more aesthetic and easier to maintain. If you are able to assist with any of these projects please see me, House Chair Chris Wright, or Grounds Chairs Wayne Dubrawsky or John Ventry on Tuesday Night. If you are unable to attend Tuesday Work Nights please call me and I would be happy to offer alternatives that could use your attention any day of the week. Italo Baldassarre

Claudia O’Neil - President

From the Rear-Commodore:

The 76th Boating Season at Sandy Beach is underway and thanks to our Tuesday night crew there are several projects that are nearing completion.

Bar Talk By Dan Brown, Rear Commodore July 2015

Summer is already here, and the season for club parties and events are already starting. We had many successful TGIFs in May and June, and need continued support for planning and organizing upcoming TGIFs on Fridays. You don’t have to be a slip holder to plan and implement a TGIF dinner. Now that Ana and Skip, our newest members, are on board, they could assist our more seasoned members and make new acquaintances at the same time (hint, hint). Bring your friends also from outside the club, as they could develop into new members as well. Don’t forget to have them sign in at the door.

Our summer hours of operation are: Fridays, 5pm to closing; Saturdays and Sundays, 2-6pm. Debbie and Heather are our two weekend bartenders. Please give them your business if you are on the grounds or docks.

I introduced new wines last month, specifically CK Mondavi Cabernet and Merlot, Columbia Crest Pinot Noir, and Woodbridge Chardonnay, and have been receiving positive feedback from our members. The newest beer selection is Sam Adams Summer Ale (a wheat beer with lemon), and the bar sold two cases in the first week! For craft beer lovers, I will be trying out Southern Tier IPA this month. Keep your ideas and feedback coming.

The private parties are bringing a lot of revenue and new faces to Sandy Beach. Chris Wright seems to be a record holder of newest member with the most outside parties! Lou Fabiano is trying to go with the largest volume record of cash sales at his private parties. The bar certainly hopes he plans another one this summer or fall. Consider holding your next event at the club.

Lastly, thanks for all the support to the bar. I am enjoying my year as Rear Commodore.
