DESCRIPTION
This is the official bulletin to the citizens of the city of Enid, Oklahoma.TRANSCRIPT
It's best to run larger appliances like
washing machines or dryers before 4
p.m. and after 7 p.m. That way you'll
reduce the peak electricity demand
on hot afternoons.
CITY NEWS JULY 2013
Protect Your Pets
Since dogs can only cool themselves by panting and sweating through their paws, dealing with the heat is tough for them. They can suffer heatstroke or brain damage in as little as 15 minutes. Temperatures in vehicles in a parked car can reach 100 to 120 degrees in minutes. On a 90 degree day, the inside temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in about 10 minutes. Never, ever leave your pet inside the car. If Max can’t come with you when you get out of the car, leave him at home.

VOLUME 1 ISSUE 1
The average home spends about $1,900 a year on energy costs. However, the good news is, there are three simple ways to improve and decrease these costs. #1: Nothing is more energy efficient for cook-
ing than your microwave. It uses two-thirds less en-ergy than your stove. #2: Although this might be a surprise to some, your dishwasher actually uses less water than washing dishes by hand. So, if you have the time to wait for the dishwasher to run those dishes through the cycle, it will be well worth it. Then let dishes air-dry to save even more. #3: Ensuring
there is plenty of food in your refrigerator keeps it from warming up too fast when the door is open.
Keeping the fridge full saves energy because your fridge doesn't have to work as hard to stay cool.
JULY EVENTS
Watering Tips
“Making small home repairs can
have a large impact on water
consumption. That running
toilet, leaky shower, and
dripping outdoor faucet can use
much more water than they
appear. Maintaining the little
things and being smart about
when and how much to water
outdoor plants will really help
keep your utilities in check.”
Scott Morris, Utilities Manager
for the City of Enid.

Enid Transit, displayed in the picture above, is in the process of going through reorganization efforts with the sole purpose of improving the quality of service provided to Enid customers. The exact composition of the new transit system is still being determined, but it will be a leaner, more efficient system than past EPTA operations. It is their goal to provide safe, reliable, affordable, transportation to the citizens of Enid. They are a valuable part of the team and we say “thank you” for providing mobility and access to employment, community resources, medical care, and recreational opportunities within our community.
