    always begins on the sec-

    ond Tuesday of August.

    Please start making plans

    now to attend. There will

be more in a later issue.

    We love you a l l

    Bishop Bogue

    From the Bishop

Standing On the Shoulders of Giants

    Praise the Lord to Every-

    one. I want to encourage

each one of you to pro-

    mote youth camp as much

    as possible. You may say,

I do not have any young

    people in our church or

    family, but I am asking

each of you to sponsor a

    child. Send your offering

    to Brother Moon for as

    many children as you

    can. Cost is $50.00 per

    camper. Send anything

you can to help on food

    and other expenses. I

    want to share a little

    thought from a message I

    preached to our church

    recently. We are con-

    stantly trying to find

    someone to come to

church so we can seek to

    change them. MY mes-

    sage was let us change

    ourselves first and when

    we get changed we will

    inspire others to change.

    Preachers including my-

self are guilty of trying to

    change a congregation or

a city, but we can accom-

    plish this only by starting

    within ourselves. Preach-

ers let us set the example

    for others to follow. Also

    I am looking forward to

seeing each one of you in

    Tullahoma at our Nation-

    al Convention /Camp

    meeting in August. This

First Church of Jesus ChristOrganization in 1965, and theBanner of Love in 1966. He

will be remembered as a ten-derhearted, loving and forgiv-ing man of faith whose lifepassion was the Kingdom ofGod. We do well to follow his

    example.

Remember them that havethe rule over you, men thatspake unto you the word ofGod; and considering theissue of their life, imitatetheir faith Hebrews 13:7Bishop H.E. Pastors and Minis-ters, please sendme your Church orMinistry infor-mation. I need thename of the Churchor Ministry, Ministeror Pastors nameand a brief (3 or 4paragraphs) articleor description ofyour history or ac-tivities.

Write as if you werewriting a promotion-al piece for your lo-cal newspaper. Idlike to begin to in-corporate these in-to the Banner andshare your ministrywith others. Ibelieve this will bean effective way topromote the organi-zation as well as,your own Churches

CAN experience more ofGods grace and love.

Forget all of your reli-gious traditions and for-mal prayers and just starttalking to Jesus as if Hewere sitting right in frontof you, because He is! Itwont be long until youare lost in His presence.

    May I suggest something

I have found valuable?Make a commitment toread through the fourGospels and the book ofActs three times in thirtydays. As you read, con-centrate on the words inred. Make it your inten-tion to Read the Red andPray for the Power.

And when you read; readit slowly, read every wordand read it as if you areseeing it for the first time.

Then pray like you havenever prayed before.

Your life and your Churchwill never be the same.

    Continued nextmonth!

    Seven Apostolic

    Principles for Growth

    Prayer

Prayer must be made astructured priority. Pre-service prayer, MorningPrayer at the Church orhome, monthly all nightprayer, prayer chains, prayer teams, anythingyou can think of that fitsthe makeup of yourChurch or group, use it tothe Glory of God.

Quiet time and fellowshipwith God are the mostimportant part of eachday.

Prayer is the beginningand the end of Gods in-tervention in the humanexperience.

The famous English pas-tor Charles Spurgeononce wrote words thatstill demand our attentiontoday: Do not restrainprayer. . . .For onlythrough prayer cany

the prosperity of a churchbe increased or evenmaintained.

We know that healthychurch growth does notoccur without Godsblessing, yet how easy itis to talk about churchgrowth ideas, methods, goals, and strategies, while missing this mostsignificant component of

    church growth: prayer!

Heres the reality:churches grow effective-lythat is, by reachingand discipling lost per-sonsonly by Godspower.

That power is available tous through prayer. Untilwe are willing to admitthat our churches cannotmake a dent in a lostworld without Gods pow-

    er, we will not prayenough.

Most people do not enjoyprayer. Knowing the ne-cessity and value of pray-er isnt necessarilyenough to make it apleasant task. But you

    We desire not only

    to see believers

    live victoriously,

    but to help them

    become rootedand grounded

    enough in Gods

    Word to reach out

    and teach others

    these same

    principles

    Healing

Most people want to wait until they "feel" anointed before theytry to minister to someone.

Some have even been taught that they MUST wait until theyfeel anointed to minister.

NO WHERE are Christians told to wait to minister to anyone.

As a matter of fact, we are told to preach the word in seasonand out. The original greek of that verse says, "when opportuni-ty presents itself and when it doesn't".

That means that it is always the right time to minister the Word.

The Bible says that the Gospel IS the power of God unto salva-tion....

If the Good News is the power of God and we are to preach theGood News, then it must always be the right time to minister toanyone.

Many try to feel something, that they assume would be theanointing.

We are not told to wait for an anointing.

The early disciples were told to wait until they had receivedpower from on high or more specifically, they were told to waitfor the promise of the Father, which happens to be the samething. They had to wait until the Day of Pentecost for the HolySpirit to be released.

Nowhere after that day are they told to wait. As a matter of factthey began to minister immediately after receiving the Holy Spir-it. You can too! What are you waiting for? Most people are wait-ing for a phone call from God, when Hes already sent them aletter!!Organizational Officers
