Chamber brings MBA Program to Castle RockChamber brings MBA Program to Castle RockChamber brings MBA Program to Castle RockChamber brings MBA Program to Castle Rock We are so excited to have a higher education campus coming to Castle Rock in August when Arapahoe Community College opens at 4700 Castleton bringing opportunity for undergraduate classes for our residents.

Soon we will expand that higher education to our local residents which will include the ability to acquire a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Management/Leadership (MA) degree from regionally accredited Webster University without leaving Castle Rock. Beginning on January 12, 2012, classes will be held Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Chamber offices in downtown Castle Rock.

The program consists of five, nine-week classes per year, with breaks in between each class. Participants can earn their degree in a little over two years (or sooner). Tuition is $1,500 per class for fiscal year 2011-2012. Military discounts and financial aid are available as well as transfer credit, if applicable. The 950 acres included in the plan are east and west of Interstate 25, stretching from Colorado Highway 86 on the east to the Bur-lington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks west of Liggett Road on the west. The area is bounded by The Woodlands/Escavera on the south and by Metzler Ranch on the north. If the development comes to fruition, it will be the largest new development in Castle Rock since 2007. The plan will be presented at a joint Town Council and Planning Commission meeting on July 12, which begins at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 100 N. The Cherokee Ranch and Castle was the perfect venue for the Arts, Culture and Media session of Leadership Douglas County. With new cultural centers opening throughout the County and other programs in each community expanding, we see arts and culture as not only an enhancement to our quality of life, but also as an economic engine for Douglas County. The cultural opportunities that are blossoming in Douglas County contribute to making us the hotbed of cultural activity in Colorado. The session wrapped up with Natalie Tysdal, KWGN-TV Anchor and Chris Michelwicz of Community Media of Colorado, formerly Colorado Community Newspapers, discussing the quickly changing media environment and how one gets the attention of the news media. On June 1st, the 2011 Leadership Douglas County Class celebrated completion of the 10-month program with their graduation held at the Cherokee Ranch and Castle. More than 100 attendees were welcomed by Suzette Rodriguez and Kevin Duffy, the 2011 Leadership Co-Chairs and Pam Ridler, President and CEO for the Castle Rock Chamber. The Keynote Speaker was Reverend Leon Kelly, Executive Director of Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives, who has an impressive leadership history. Rev. Kelly’s call to action has led him to be widely recognized throughout the region and honored by many who work in the field of non-profits, law enforcement, sports, media, education, and government agencies. He is a role model for future leaders, inspiring them by example. developed with input from business groups including the National Association of Manufacturers and Council on Competitiveness.
