    Come Sail with WEN on the San Francisco Bay

    Join WEN for a sunset sail on the San Francisco Bay on Thursday, July 26th from 6-8pm: 1-1/2hours of spectacular sail time, drinks, and hors d'oeuvres on the beautiful catamaran AdventureCat. Bring your family and friends and meet us at Pier 39, Dock I on the outer left side pier ofPier 39 in San Francisco. The boat leaves at 6:30 PM sharp so make sure you leave time to findthe Pier!

The annual Master Composter TrainingProgram is currently accepting applications for the 2008 Class.Participants will:

    Attend weekly classes from February to May Learn compost and Bay-Friendly Gardening theory and practice Give back to the community by completing a compost outreach project Receive a compost bin and helpful reference books Gain valuable job skills Earn College Credit

    Teachers who complete the program are eligible for a $200 stipend to use towards school gardenand/or classroom compost activities. Stopwaste.org offers this extensive training andenvironmental education program to promote the recycling of organic materials on thecommunity level.     The Auditing Roundtables West Coast Regional meeting will focus on Climate Change:

    regulatory requirements; company imperatives; business opportunities and challenges - and newdata to be audited!     Urban and Organic Agriculture in Cuba A Talk by Dr. Sinan Koont: Monday, July 16,

    2007

    Cuba faced a period of serious crisis after the collapse of the Soviet Union. To overcome thecrisis and to feed its people, it directed its energies to developing urban and organic agriculture.It was not only able to solve all its agricultural problems, but became the world leader in thefield. Dr. Koont will tell about Cubas achievements and how Venezuela has also been learningfrom them. Dr. Sinan Koont teaches economics at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvaniawhere he has written extensively on Latin America, including two papers on Cuba in MonthlyReview. He spent three and a half months (January-May 2007) in Cuba researching urbanagriculture and food security and three weeks in Venezuela.Time: 6:30 pm - Light refreshments and reception
