Summer… the proverbial ‘kickback’ season of the year. Every summer, parents struggle to keep their children entertained while they’re at work. Everyone is buzzing with anticipation for Crop Over celebrations and every day the beach beckons us to adapt its ‘chill out vibe’ and grab our friends for a sandy picnic and a dip in the ocean. While most activities require leaving our neighbourhoods to experience them, we can also have a blast in our very own backyards! Here are a few tips for a fantastic summer in The Villages at Coverley.
Sunday Ice-creamBeat the heat as a Family! – Take a stroll over to Chicken Barn or Chillz Delight Treats for ice-cream and hang out in Coverley Square while watching passers-by. Perhaps even skip the traditional Sunday lunch and grab a bite to eat as well!
Nighttime WalkGather your friends and neighbours for a fun community walk through each village! Support each other’s fitness goals while enjoying the beauty we so often take for granted or up the ante and have a fun community scavenger hunt with teams from each Village!
Playdates In The ParkWhile your little ones may be busy during the week, arrange with your neighbours to have a play date in any of the parks around the community!
Neighbourhood GamesThe playing field is a great place to host your own version of the Summer Games! Have obstacle courses, races, a jumping tent to entertain the younger ones and pack a picnic with all your favourite items to share!

Chillz Delight Treats is a family owned Barbadian ice-cream store. They offer a variety of ice-cream flavours and milkshakes which are made from any flavoured ice-cream on display, but their most talked about and loved flavours are their homemade delights! The Mudslide ice-cream and Mudslide milkshake are the most popular as it’s made of rich chocolate ice-cream, brownies, caramel sauce, Baileys Cream and rum! Placethechickenbreastsinalargeplasticstoragebag.Sealthebag,leavingasmallopening,thenusearollingpintopoundthebreastsuntil they’reauniformthickness.Pour inhalf thebalsamicvinaigrette,thensealthebagandmarinateinthefridgefor1hour.
Afterthechickenhasmarinated,grillituntilit’sdoneinthemiddle,about5minutesperside.Removefromtheheatandsetasidetocoolslightly.Diceupthechickenwhenit’scoolenoughtohandle.
