PREP

SACRAMENT UPDATES The Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation, which were postponed because of the pandemic, have been rescheduled. SML School and PREP second-grade students were able to receive the Eucharist for the first time at weekend Masses (Saturdays at 5:30 p.m., Sundays at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and noon) beginning the weekend of July 11-12. Although we must still adhere to social distancing regulations and wear masks, four students will be able to receive Communion at each weekend Mass. The first pew in each section will be reserved for the family of a First Communicant. Confirmation services will be held on Friday, July 24 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, July 25 at 11:00 a.m.; and Friday, July 31 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Twenty-one students will be able to be confirmed at each of the five services. The Confirmand will sit with his/her family in the seat closest to the center aisle, and each family is allowed one pew. Please keep the young people of our Parish in your prayers as they continue to grow in faith and love. PREP REGISTRATION Registration for the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) for the 2020-2021 school year will begin later this month. PREP instruction begins when a child enters first grade and continues through eighth grade. At SML, registration is required for all students – returning and new. We will email registration forms and directions to all current students. We ask that you help us identify incoming first graders so we can prepare them for their first religion classes. As you know, parents are the foremost educators of their children in all areas, especially religion. Pray daily with your children, attend Mass with them in any way that you can (in person or on line), and practice kindness, even if you do not think they are watching (they are!). I also ask that you give prayerful thought to volunteering to be part of the SML religious education program. No matter what form PREP takes, in person or virtually, many volunteers are always needed to share our faith with the children of this parish!

Contact the PREP Office at [email protected] with questions or to volunteer.

Helping the Homeless in Burlington County How do you “shelter in place” if there is no shelter?

St. Mary of the Lakes continues to shelter homeless families through our Interfaith Hospitality

Network even though our church hosts are currently closed. We are housing families in local motels and providing funds for their lodging, food and supplies. At this time, we are asking our parishioners

to assist us in this effort by clicking: https://ihnbc.networkforgood.com/ and go to the website for making a donation to the program.

Thank you so much for your on-going generosity in the support of this program. Your gift is truly appreciated.

How to Put on and Remove a Face Mask

Disposable face masks should be used once and then thrown in the trash. You should also remove and replace masks when they become moist. Always follow product instructions on use and storage of the mask, and procedures for how to put on and remove a mask. If instructions for putting on and removing the mask are not available, then follow the steps below.

How to put on a face mask:

1. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before touching the mask.

2. Remove a mask from the box and make sure there are no obvious tears or holes in either side of the mask.

3. Determine which side of the mask is the top. The side of the mask that has a stiff bendable edge is the top and is

meant to mold to the shape of your nose.

4. Determine which side of the mask is the front. The colored side of the mask is usually the front and should face away

from you, while the white side touches your face. Follow the instructions below for the type of mask you are using:

• Face Mask with Ear loops: Hold the mask by the ear loops. Place a loop around each ear.

• Face Mask with Ties: Bring the mask to your nose level and place the ties over the crown of your head and secure with a bow.

• Face Mask with Bands: Hold the mask in your hand with the nosepiece or top of the mask at fingertips, allowing the headbands to hang freely below hands. Bring the mask to your nose level and pull the top strap over your head so that it rests over the crown of your head. Pull the bottom strap over your head so that it rests at the nape of your neck.

6. Mold or pinch the stiff edge to the shape of your nose.

7. If using a face mask with ties: Then take the bottom ties, one in each hand, and secure with a bow at the nape of

your neck. Pull the bottom of the mask over your mouth and chin. How to remove a face mask:

1. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before touching the mask. Avoid touching the front of the

mask. The front of the mask is contaminated. Only touch the ear loops/ties/band. Follow the instructions below for the type of mask you are using.

2. Face Mask with Ear loops: Hold both of the ear loops and gently lift and remove the mask.

3. Face Mask with Ties: Untie the bottom bow first then untie the top bow and pull the mask away from you as the ties

are loosened.

4. Face Mask with Bands: Lift the bottom strap over your head first then pull the top strap over your head.

5. Throw the mask in the trash. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

St. Mary of the Lakes This Week Parish Office Hours

Monday - Friday: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

A Coronavirus Prayer Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages

“curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of

the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love. Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. May victims regain their strength and health through

quality medical care. Heal us from our fear. Stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow. Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with

you in your eternal peace. Hear our prayer, O Divine Physician. Hear our prayer.

Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion Prayer

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the

Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and

unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

Parish Office Drop Box Just a friendly reminder to please use the Parish Office Drop Box next to the Rectory front door

for drop offs and church envelopes.

Thank you !
