WELCOME BACK Welcome back to Term 3! I trust all families had some relaxing family time during the school holidays or were able to take a break somewhere warmer. The holidays also provide an opportunity for some special time to ensure we have a good work/life balance. Term 3 is now under way and our students have stepped back into the routine as if they hadn’t missed a day – they are such an amazing group of children! CURRICULUM DAY A last reminder to parents is that tomorrow is a pupil-free day - Friday 19th July. No students will be required on that day. All staff will be taking part in professional de-velopment focussing on ‘Play is the Way’ presented by its author Wilson McCaskill who is over this week from his home state of Western Australia. We are very lucky to have engaged him this week. PLAY IS THE WAY is a practical methodology for teaching social and emotional skills using guided play, classroom ac-tivities and an empowering language. It is a process that gives primary schools a way to develop, improve and en-trench the personal and social capabilities of students. STUDENT ABSENCE Our school will continue to utilise COMPASS to record all absences but parents must explain any absence, late arrival or early dismissal. Please ensure our office has your cur-rent mobile phone number. PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS Interviews are being conducted on Tuesday 23rd July and Wednesday 24th July. We encourage all parents to utilise this opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and to share any relevant information to assist with your child’s learning. It is important that you have read your child’s report prior to the meeting. The online booking process has already been opened up on COMPASS. Parents requiring help with the booking system can seek help from our office staff.

PRINCIPAL’S NEWS

WORKING BEE - School Councils Sasha Kober - Buildings and Grounds Convenor. We hold a working bee every term. The next one will be on Saturday 27th Ju-ly. Whether you can stay the whole three hours from 9 to midday or just drop by for thirty minutes there's plenty to do and all helpers, children and adults, are welcome and appreciated. It's a great way to meet other families. Sharing a sausage and a few laughs around the BBQ at the end really brings home what a great community we have around our school All you need is a pair of hands but if you have them the most useful tools are; wheelbarrow, shovel, rake, broom, gloves, secateurs and a TRAILER. Typical jobs - moving mulch, tidying garden beds, clearing paths and drains, raking leaves and soft-fall. Meet at the big shed at the top of the driveway near the Prep Buildings. Love to see you there, even if you have only half an hour to spare.

STAFFING NEWS Sarah Wallace is taking two weeks of well-earned LSL and we hope she has a won-derful time overseas with husband Matt and friends. We also welcome back Darcy Hampton after her OS travels and Luisa Dury (Rampone) and Sarah Wootton who attended Luisa’s wedding will return next week. FIRST AID IN SCHOOLS

St John Ambulance Victoria will visit our school next week to deliver their

free First Aid in Schools Program to our students. The program has taken an

innovative approach to ensure all First Aid lessons are a fun and interactive

experience for students of all learning capabilities. Trained St John present-

ers lead students from Prep to Grade 6 through tailored 45 minute sessions

on the importance of First Aid and what to do in the event of a medical emer-

gency. Our junior students learn about how to identify when there is an

emergency, keeping themselves safe, and how to call for an ambulance.

Senior students learn about delivering CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)

and the things they can do to assist in an emergency.
