Dr. Pickup Blues Band “3”. Self Production (Demo) 2013. Este trío de músicos franceses establecidos en Toulouse desde hace más de veinte años, llevan juntos el tiempo suficiente para que suenen compenetrados y empasten bien su sonido. El repertorio que atacan se basa principalmente en composiciones propias del líder del grupo, el Dr. Pickup aunque, en sus actuaciones en directo, incluyen también algún que otro ‘cover’. En la actualidad la banda está formada por el Dr. Pickup que canta y toca la guitarra, bien secundado por Pascal Curto al Hammond y piano, mientras que Jeango Alfred completa el trío a la batería. Estos tres músicos ponen ganas e interés y, en este caso, eso es lo más importante, aunque las dotes vocales de Pickup se resientan en muchas ocasiones. Una lástima porque, a pesar de todo, el trio suena bien y todos se toman muy en serio su trabajo. ¡Adelante con vuestra música y seguid siempre en la brecha! BUENO. For more than twenty years this French musicians trio has established in Toulouse, so they have been together long enough to sound teamed and bound. The repertoire they do is mainly based on original compositions by the group leader, Dr. Pickup although, in their live performances, they also include some covers. Currently the band members are Dr. Pickup who sings and plays guitar, perfectly supported by Pascal Curto on Hammond organ and piano, while Jeango Alfred completes them on drums. These three musicians put a great enthusiasm and interest in everything they do which, in this case, is the most relevant thing, even if Dr. Pickup’s vocal abilities often suffer and are a little bit diminished. It is a pity because the trio sounds good and they take their works very seriously. So I can only say them, go on with your work and keep at it, fellows! GOOD.

Chris Bevington “And Friends”. Tremolo 2013. Después de pasar por diferentes grupos y formaciones desde su inició en la música a los dieciséis años, ahora el bajista Chris Bevington ha decidido llevar adelante su propio proyecto. Para ello se ha dedicado a tiempo completo a éste trabajo que ahora nos presenta, con la ayuda de unos buenos músicos como son George Glover, Big Pete, Paul Burgess, Scott Ralph y Jim Kirkpatrick. Juntos han elaborado un excelente álbum lleno de blues moderno, alternativo, contemporáneo y realmente atractivo. Finalmente el sueño de Chris se ha convertido en realidad, gracias al apoyo de un buen amigo suyo que le animó a realizar el proyecto, pese a las dudas, la falta de confianza y las reticencias que en un principio presentaba. Así fue como asumió el reto que suponía llevar a cabo esta idea y asumir el fracaso si éste se presentaba. Sin embargo no ha sido así y su trabajo ha salido a la luz para uso y disfrute de todos los aficionados dispuestos a asumir el riesgo de escucharlo, siempre y cuando escucharlo suponga un riesgo. After being member of different groups and bands, since the moment he started in the music world when he was only aged sixteen, now bass player Chris Bevington has decided to go on with his own musical project. He has full time devoted himself to produce this album, helped by some good musicians such as George Glover, Big Pete, Paul Burgess, Scott Ralph and Jim Kirkpatrick. Together, they have

produced an excellent album full of modern, alternative, contemporary and really attractive blues. Finally Chris’ dream has become true, thanks to the support of a good friend, who encouraged him to carry on with the project, despite his doubts and lack of confidence. This was how he faced the challenge to do it and assume he could fail. However, this has not happened at all and now his work has just been published to be happily enjoyed by all blues fans who will take the risk of listening to it, as long as this can really be a risk. VERY GOOD.

Debbie Bond And The TruDats “That Thing Called Love”. Blues Roots Productions / BlindRaccoon 2013. Tercer disco de la vocalista, compositora y guitarrista Debbie Bond para Blues Root Productions. Una vez más Debbie ha dado en el clavo con un álbum estilísticamente correcto y el respaldo de una banda muy ‘hot’, pero a la vez con un punto tranquilo y balsámico. A lo largo de su trayectoria, Debbie Bond ha trabajado con Jerry McCain, Johnny Shines, Eddie Kirkland, Sammy Lay o Willie King entre otros. Todos los músicos demuestran su valía y brillan en su trabajo en cada uno de los temas incluidos. Las canciones han sido todas escritas por la propia Debbie y el teclista Rick Asherson, quien también se encarga de la producción. El resto de la banda que acompaña a Debbie, es decir, los TruDats, son Dave Crenshaw batería y percusión, Ray Robinson batería en la canción “Tarragona Blues” y Jonathan Blackney coros y percusión también en “Tarragona Blues”, tema que compusieron como dedicatoria a sus fans españoles cuando estuvieron tocando en el Festival de Blues de Tarragona. BUENO. This is the third album of singer, songwriter and guitarist Debbie Bond for Blues Root Productions. Once again Debbie has hit the nail with a stylistically correct album with the support of a very hot band which, at the same time, gives a calm peaceful atmosphere. Along her musical career Debbie Bond has worked with Jerry McCain, Johnny Shines, Eddie Kirkland, Sammy Lay or Willie King among others. All the musicians involved in this album do a very professional work and shine at a very high level. All songs are Debbie’s own compositions she has done together with keyboardist Rick Asherson, who is also responsible of the whole production. The TruDats, perfectly support Debbie and include Dave Crenshaw drums and percussion, Ray Robinson drums in the song "Tarragona Blues" and Jonathan Blackney backing vocals and percussion in "Tarragona Blues" too, a song they wrote to dedicate it to all their Spanish fans when they were booked to play at Tarragona Blues Festival. La compañía independiente Mosher St. Situada en el sur de Florida, nos presenta dos cds con una espléndida selección de bandas, todas ellas lideradas por armonicistas, que harán temblar las piernas de todos aquellos fans del sonido de este pequeño instrumento de importancia capital en el sonido del blues. Son un total de veintiocho canciones interpretadas por diversos músicos y grupos, algunos más conocidos que otros, pero todos ellos con una capacidad de seducción altamente satisfactoria. Joe Louis Walker “Hornet’s Nest”. Alligator / Discmedi 2014. En este nuevo disco, el visionario y carismático Joe Louis Walker ha contado con Tom Hambridge para la producción final del álbum, como ya lo hiciera en su anterior disco “Hellfire”, o en el de James Cotton, “Cotton Mouth Man”, que fue nominado para los premio Grammy del pasado año. El resultado no ha podido ser más brillante, incluso me atrevería a decir que excepcional es el adjetivo mas apropiado para definir el resultado final de este “Hornet’s Nest”. Tom también ha escrito junto a Joe Louis parte de

los temas que se incluyen en el disco. En total son doce canciones bien interpretadas, que Walker ataca con fuerza y pasión. El poder de la voz y los lamentos de su guitarra, se muestran sin en su máxima expresividad y potencia, todo ello gracias a la ejemplar entrega y sentimiento de los que hace gala, imponiendo de este modo su personal sello en cada una de las canciones del cd. Joe cuenta con la participación de unos músicos magníficos, que van imponiendo su ley a medida que transcurre el álbum. Buen rock and roll, shuffles vitalistas, blues contemporáneo, algún incendiario doo-woop e incluso se puede disfrutar de los apasionados ‘grity after-hours laments’. MUY BUENO. For this new album, the always visionary and charismatic Joe Louis Walker has recruited Tom Hambridge to produce it, as he did in his previous one "Hellfire". Tom also produced James Cotton’s "Cotton Mouth Man", which was nominated for last year Grammys Awards. The result is really bright. I would even dare say the word ‘exceptional’ is the most appropriate adjective to define this "Hornet's Nest". Tom has also written together with Joe Louis some of the cd tracks. The album includes twelve songs Walker performs with an amazing strength and passion. His powerful voice and the heartbreaking guitar moans become the most expressive and powerful music you can imagine, thanks to Walker’s implication and commitment, which give his personal stamp to every song. Joe has also chosen some great musicians to back him, who get their way as the album goes by. Good rock and roll, vital shuffles, contemporary blues, some incendiary doo-woop songs and even joyful and passionate gritty after-hours laments. GREAT.

The Downtown Alligators “Hip Shakin’ Mamma”. Self Production 2013. Aquí están de nuevo los Downtown Alligators presentando su tercer trabajo y dispuestos a conseguir hacernos pasar una buena velada en la que bailar, vibrar y disfrutar durante un buen rato con sus blues alegres y desenfadados que se recogen en este disco grabado en directo durante el pasado año 2013. Doce ‘covers’ conforman el nuevo proyecto de estos músicos, con canciones tan diversas como “Something You Got”, “You Belong To Me”, “Stagger Lee & Billy”, “Money” o “Memphis Train”. Es cierto, es sólo puro rhythm and blues con algunas pinceladas funky, pero ¿qué queréis que os diga?, personalmente a mí me gustan y me divierten. Los Downtown Alligators no son otros son que Carlos García guitarra y voz, Luis Resina guitarra, Jorge Lera armónica, Adolfo Carrera bajo y el hombre que da vida y alma a los shuffles, Rubén Cuadrado batería. La banda disfruta con su trabajo, comunican y tienen el suficiente ‘beat’ para que el oyente también disfrute al máximo de un disco más que satisfactorio. MUY BUENO. The Downtown Alligators come back to present their third work. Their wish is to make us spend a thrilling evening dancing and enjoying for a long time with the happy uninhibited blues they have gathered in this live album recorded during year 2013. Twelve covers make up this new work, with such diverse songs like "Something You Got", "You Belong To Me", "Stagger Lee & Billy", "Money" or "Memphis Train". It is true, it is only pure rhythm and blues with a funky touch but, what do you want me to say? I like and really enjoy them. life and soul to every shuffle, Ruben Square drums. The band enjoys with his work and has enough beat to make every listener happy with a more than recommendable album. VERY GOOD.

Caroline Dahl “Devil Digit Boogie Woogie”. Hexadact 2013. Éste es el primer álbum que Caroline Dahl graba únicamente con piano. Todas las canciones están compuestas por esta maravillosa dama del piano, con la excepción de “Pinetop’s Boogie Woogie” de Clarence Smith. Como siempre Caroline está soberbia y en cada uno de los temas nos muestra su fraseo brillante, bien medido e inspirado, dotando a los boogies de la frescura y el ‘groove’ suficiente para no caer en la rutina. Una vez más Caroline Dahl nos deleita con su buen hacer, su oficio, el encanto de su impulsivo ‘beat’ y su ritmo, siempre bien sincopado, animado y festivo. La Srta. Dahl adorna el tradicional boogie woogie con buen gusto, armonía y mucho swing, lo que la hace brillar con mucha naturalidad, sin sobrecargas, ni ornamentos excesivos. ‘Piano stride’, sonido ‘near-frenzy” con líneas de bajo tan excelentes, que sorprenderán a más de uno. Caroline es una auténtica experta de las 88’s y una verdadera conocedora del legado del ‘American roots’. Aunque oriunda de Louisville, Kentucky, en la actualidad vive en San Francisco, ciudad que la acogió hace ya treinta años. Mi consejo es que os atreváis a viajar por el mundo de las sonoridades que Caroline Dahl extrae al teclado y dejarse llevar por su música y su magia. MUY BUENO. This is the first album Caroline Dahl has recorded alone with her piano. All songs have been written by this wonderful piano lady, with the exception of "Pinetop's Boogie Woogie" by Clarence Smith. As usual, Caroline gives us a superb performing. She shows her bright, well measured and inspired phrasing in every song she does, providing to her boogies a refreshing air and groove enough for not falling into routine. This is a good work where, once again, Caroline Dahl delights us with the wide knowledge, the charm of her powerful beat and her well syncopated, lively and joyful rhythm. Ms. Dahl dresses up the traditional boogie-woogie with an extreme good taste and much swing, which makes it shine with a natural display without excessive ornaments. You will find a good dose of piano stride, near-frenzy sounds and excellent bass lines, which will surprise more than one. Caroline is a real master of the 88's and a true expert of American roots legacy. Although she comes from Louisville, Kentucky, she currently lives in San Francisco, where she moved about thirty years ago. My advice is you should not miss the amazing expressive sounds Caroline Dahl draws off her keyboard and let you be carried by the magic of her tasteful music. VERY GOOD.

The First Class Blues Band “Brand New”. Acoustic Music 2013. Durante los años noventa The First Class Blues Band ya se habían ganado una fama bien merecida en los circuitos del blues alemán, siendo sobradamente conocidos entre los aficionados. Los First Class tienen dos discos publicados que tuvieron una excelente acogida por parte de los medios especializados. En este nuevo disco grabado para Acoustic Music (sello independiente de consolidada existencia con uno de los mayores catálogos, tanto de música clásica, como de folk y de American Roots),

los First Class Blues Band culminan un trabajo de envergadura con muy buen oficio por parte de todos los miembros del quinteto formado por Christian Rannenberg piano, órgano hammond y voz, Jan Hirte guitarra y voz, Thomas Feldman saxos tenor, barítono, armónica y voz, Kevin DuVernay bajo y voz y Tommie Harris batería y voz. Como se puede comprobar todos los músicos cantan diferentes temas, en un total de doce canciones desenfadadas y alegres, con la excepción del característico blues lento “I Kicked The Habit”. Un álbum lleno de estupendo y sincero blues y rhythm and blues de New Orleans, junto a algunos detalles de swamp groove, todo ello interpretado con frescura, versatilidad y una gran capacidad de atrapar al oyente. MUY BUENO. The First Class Blues Band had already won a well-deserved reputation during the 90’s along German blues circuits, so the band was well-known by blues fans. They published two records, which got excellent reviews by specialized media. In this new album recorded for Acoustic Music (an independent label which, along the years, has consolidated as one with the largest catalog, either in classical music, than in folk and American roots music). Now The First Class Blues Band achieve a significant album with a very professional work by all band members, including Christian Rannenberg piano, Hammond organ and vocals, Jan Hirte guitar and vocals, Thomas Fieldman tenor and baritone sax, harmonica and vocals, Kevin DuVernay bass and vocals and Tommie Harris drums and vocals. All musicians sing in different tracks, rounding up twelve joyful loose casual songs, except the typical slow blues "I Kicked The Habit". This is an album full of great true sincere blues and New Orleans rhythm and blues, together with some interesting swamp groove details, all performed with a cool versatility and an amazing skill that will immediately catch every listener. GREAT.

Yellow Moon “Dream”. Blues Ville Music 2013. En este peculiar viaje hacia músicas de un género especialmente intimo como son el jazz y el swing de los años treinta, cuarenta y cincuenta del pasado siglo, que parecen pertenecer a un mundo hoy ya desaparecido pero todavía nostálgico para una gran parte del público, descubrimos en este trío formado por Balta Bordoy guitarra, Richard Vinton piano y la sensual voz de Desiree Duran una magia especial que revolotea durante toda la escucha del álbum. El trío imprime carácter y fuerza a un repertorio de once canciones extraídas del ‘songbook’ americano con canciones tan clásicas e inolvidables como “You Can Go Feed Yourself”, “Dream, At Least”, “What A Difference A Day Made” y otros maravillosos ‘covers’ que el trio ejecuta con gusto y excelente criterio. A pesar de su sencillez y de estar ejecutados de forma totalmente acústica, los arreglos están cuidados e interpretados con esmero y acierto. La voz de Desirée es cálida, sexy y atractiva y lo más importante es que cuando canta, se gusta a sí misma y vocaliza bien, lo que confiere un punto de seguridad y aplomo que no defraudará al oyente. In this peculiar journey towards the music of an especially intimate genre like was last century 30’s, 40’s and 50’s jazz and swing, that seem to belong to an already disappeared world but still nostalgic for many people, we discover a special magic in this trio with Balta Bordoy guitar, Richard Vinton piano and the sensual voice of

Desiree Duran. The three musicians give their own mark and strength to a repertoire of eleven songs coming from the American songbook, with classic and unforgettable tunes like "You Can Go Feed Yourself”, "Dream At Least”, "What A Difference A Day Made" and other wonderful covers they play with excellent taste and clever skills. Simple but good arrangements (do not forget it is an acoustic album) done with care and wisdom. Désirée’s voice is warm, sexy, very attractive and, the most important thing is she sings as she feels and likes, which gives a point of conviction and determination to every song, which will not disappoint any listener. VERY GOOD.

Sugar Brown “Sugar Brown’s Sad Day”. Self Production / Sarah French 2014. El guitarrista y cantante Sugar Brown nació y creció en Bowling Green, en el estado de Ohio. Su verdadero nombre es Ken Chester Kawashima y es hijo de padre japonés y madre coreana. Sus padres emigraron a los Estados Unidos en busca de mejores perspectivas. Actualmente Sugar Brown reside en Ontario, Canadá, dedicándose por completo a escribir e interpretar canciones de blues contemporáneo. Poco a poco ha conseguido el favor del público de la zona, ganando incluso el pasado año el premio que concede anualmente la Toronto Blues Society a los nuevos valores y talentos. Sugar Brown es un músico incombustible por el aporte de energía que confiere a los temas que interpreta, es una verdadera fuerza de la naturaleza que el destino le ha concedido y que él pone al servicio del público que le escucha. En este álbum Brown desgrana quince temas que van desde shuffles, hasta dumping boogies, swingin’ jump, dark rumbas o country grooves. Un músico realmente original y curioso que, en el álbum se encarga de la voz, la guitarra y la armónica en un par de temas, junto a Bharath Rajakumar armónica y guitarra, Ben Caissie batería y contrabajo y Zak Izbinsky guitarra. MUY BUENO. Singer and guitar player Sugar Brown was born and grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio. His real name is Ken Chester Kawashima and he is son of a Japanese father and a Korean mother. His parents travelled to United States looking for a better life. Sugar Brown now lives in Ontario Canada, devoting himself to write and perform contemporary blues songs. Little by little, he has become quite popular among audiences in that particular area and, last year, he received Toronto Blues Society Award as best new talent artist. Sugar Brown is a tireless musician who always gives a terrific energy to the songs he plays. He is a force of nature, gifted with a natural power he gives to everybody who listens to him. For this album Brown has chosen fifteen varied songs, from shuffles to dumping boogies, swingin' jump, dark rhumbas or country grooves. Brown is a really original and different musician you will find in this album on vocals, guitar and harmonica on a couple of songs, together with Bharath Rajakumar harmonica and guitar, Ben Caissie drums and double bass and Zak Izbinsky guitar. VERY GOOD.

Brian Cober “Austin Wired”. Self Production / Sarah French 2014. Un músico que capta con especial sensibilidad, serenidad, finura y mucho detalle el genuino sentido del blues. Brian Cober entreteje con la slide una historia personal y sincera que captura al oyente desde las primeras

notas de la canción “What Will Come” que abre éste “Austin Wired”. Brian Cober es un excelente cantante y guitarrista y un vistoso y descarnado ‘storyteller’. Sus letras siempre hablan de excesos sin límite y de los profundos desamores que han surgido en su vida desde que tiene uso de razón, siempre desde una óptica real, singular y propia. Brian Cober no es un recién llegado al mundo de la música, con su banda The Nationals ha acompañado a innumerables figuras del blues canadiense como King Biscuit Boy, Long John Baldy o Jeff Healy y ha taloneado a Johnny Winter, James Cotton, John Mayall y muchos otros. Este es su cuarto álbum y en él nos ofrece su único e intrincado sonido con la doble slide, técnica de la que Brian es un magnífico artífice. Estoy convencido de que cuando lo escuchéis vais a sorprenderos gratamente con todo lo que éste guitarrista, compositor y cantante es capaz de hacer junto al bajista Big Ben Richardson y el batería Tom Lewis. MUY BUENO. Here comes a musician who captures the real blues spirit with a special sensitivity, peace and much detail. With slide Brian Cober weaves a personal and sincere story, which captures listeners from the first notes of "What Will You Eat", song that opens "Austin Wired" album. Brian Cober is an excellent singer, guitar player and an attractive storyteller too. His lyrics always talk about unlimited excesses and deep heartbreaking pain he has suffered as far as he can remember and he does it from a true unique and personal point of view. Brian Cober is not a newcomer into the music world. With his band, The Nationals, he has backed relevant Canadian blues musicians like King Biscuit Boy, Long John Baldy or Jeff Healy and he has also opened for Johnny Winter, James Cottor or John Mayall among many others. This is his fourth album where he displays his unique messy double slide sound, a technique Brian is a real master. If you listen to him, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised with the amazing things this singer, guitar player and songwriter is able to give you, together with bass player Big Ben Richardson and drummer Tom Lewis. VERY GOOD.

Bill Blue “Mojolation”. Warmfuzz 2013. Desde finales de los años setenta y durante los ochenta, el cantante, armonicista, compositor y guitarrista Bill Blue ya estaba totalmente inmerso en el mundo de la música y, especialmente, en el blues. Bill estuvo tocando con Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup hasta poco antes de su fallecimiento. Más tarde formó The Bill Blue Band y siguió actuando, grabando y compartiendo escenario con artistas como ZZ Top, Johnny Winter, Allman Brothers Band, Albert King… incluso llegó a firmar contrato con Adelphi Records, uno de los sellos independientes de blues más prestigiosos en los años setenta y ochenta. and during the eighties, singer, song-writer, harmonica and guitar player Bill Blue has been completely engaged in the music world and especially in blues music. Bill was playing with Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup until shortly before he passed away. Later on, he formed The Bill Blue Band and went on performing, recording and sharing stage with artists like ZZ Top, Johnny Winter, Allman Brothers Band, Albert King… and he also signed a contract with Adelphi Records, one of the most prestigious blues independent labels in the 70’s and 80’s. For this album Bill has recruited some of his best friends, like Richard Crooks (former drummer with Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen) or guitar player Matt Baker, who played with Steve Winwood, Joe Cooker, Emmylou Harris and, for about eight years, with Julian Lennon. John & Sylvia Embry “Troubles”. Delmark 2013. Otro disco básico e imprescindible es esta magnífica reedición de un antiguo álbum de la excelente peluquera, cantante y bajista Sylvia Embry, junto al que por entonces era su marido, el guitarrista John Embry. Además de los diez cortes del LP original titulado “After Work” grabado en 1979 para el pequeño sello Razor Records, se han añadido siete nuevas canciones grabadas en directo desde el club Bold One Lounge de Chicago. Gracias a la magnífica labor de remasterización efectuada y supervisada por los productores Mark Lefens, Michael Landers, Robert G. Koester y Steve Wagner, se ha conseguido un magnífico sonido limpio y cristalino. Sylvia Embry fue cantante y bajista del grupo del guitarrista Lefty Dizz y durante los años 1978 y 1979 tocaban diariamente en el club Blue Mondays y regularmente lo hacían en el Kingston Mines y el Checkerboard Lounge, tres de los clubs de blues más importantes de la ciudad del viento. Si queréis gozar de la profunda intensidad de la que hacía gala esta mujer, no dudéis en haceros con una copia de este cd donde la magia del blues de Chicago en su más pura esencia brilla a niveles mágicos e insuperables. Ahora le llega el turno a esta fantástica edición del cantante y guitarrista Magic Sam, quien fue uno de los pilares fundamentales en crear y desarrollar el conocido sonido west side de Chicago. Este es un disco que no había sido jamás editado y que ahora por fin ve la luz para gusto y deleite de todos los amantes, fans y seguidores de este gran exponente del blues de los años sesenta. Magic Sam fue un guitarrista y compositor único y original en su concepción, construcción y sonido del blues. Magic Sam fue un músico adelantado a su tiempo con una fuerza y expresividad sólo al alcance de unos pocos. El disco fue grabado en vivo desde el Avant Garde Coffeehouse en Milwaukee y contiene dieciséis magníficos temas donde se capta la tórrida atmósfera que sólo Magic Sam era capaz de crear y transmitir a la audiencia. El sonido es más que correcto y acompañan a Sam a la voz y la guitarra, Robert ‘Big Mojo’ Elem al bajo y Bob Richey a la batería. The cd was not published before been and now it has finally seen the light to delight and satisfy all fans and followers of this sixties great bluesman. Magic Sam was a unique guitarist and song writer with an original conception to build up the genuine blues sound. He was a musician advanced to his time, with a strength and expressiveness only few ones could reach. The album was recorded live at the Avant Garde Coffeehouse in Milwaukee and includes sixteen magnificent songs that capture the real hot atmosphere only Magic Sam was able to create and bring to listeners. The sound is more than good, where Sam’s voice and guitar is backed by Robert 'Big Mojo' Elem on bass and Bob Richey on drums. The album was recorded on June 22nd. 1968 and the repertoire goes from blues to soul with some funky touches. As mentioned it is an essential album specially devoted to blues deep lovers. ESSENTIAL.

Jason Vivone And The Billy Bats “Eddie Ate Dynamite”, Self Production / BlindRaccoon 2014. ¿Sabéis cómo se le conoce a éste cantante y guitarrista llamado Jason Vivone? Pues cariñosamente le apodan el Orson Welles del blues con raíces. Este álbum se compone de nueve excepcionales composiciones del propio Jason y en ellas se nos muestra como un músico con una fuerte personalidad y una creativa idiosincrasia

propia de los que están llamados a triunfar dentro del circuito del nuevo blues contemporáneo. Acompañado por una banda singular y muy contundente formada por Paula Crawford guitarra y voz, Joanna Berkebile voces, Rick MacIvor teclados, Ben Hoppes banjo eléctrico y voces, Jeremy Clark bajo y Matt Bustamante batería, a los que se les unen Bryan Redmon saxo y Chad Boydston trompeta (ambos músicos del grupo Grand Marquis), Jason Vivone puede dar rienda suelta a su singular forma de tocar la guitarra slide entre surrealista y sublime y todo ello en una especie de ‘opera’ blues llena de poesía callejera a la que se le añade un poquito de ciencia ficción. La música de los Dixie Peach es una simbiosis de blues y rock sureño con toques de funk y jazz-blues, que conecta hábilmente con el oyente ya que transmite con enorme capacidad de conexión todo el feeling del que hacen gala y que proviene de lo más profundo del corazón y del alma. Dixie Peach es un verdadero regalo para todos los aficionados a los que les guste la buena música. El poderío y la energía que esta banda transmite con las notas que emergen de la guitarra de Ira Stanley no dejara indiferente a nadie y seguro que satisfará a muchos de los que lo escuchen. Tinsley Ellis “Midnight Blue”. Heartfixer Music 7 Blindraccoon 2014. El cantante, guitarrista y compositor Tinsley Ellis nació en Atlanta pero creció en Florida. Un día en que estaba presenciando una actuación de B.B. King, éste le regaló una cuerda de su guitarra que se le había roto y desde ese momento Tinsley decidió que quería ser un guitarrista de blues. De vuelta a Atlanta, Ellis formó parte de los Alley Cats y, poco tiempo después, organizó el grupo The Heartfixers dando cabida al cantante y armonicista Chicago Bob Nelson. Cuando Nelson dejó el grupo, Tinsley decidió deshacer la banda y empezar su propio camino en solitario. En este nuevo disco Ellis ha dejado de grabar para Alligator como venia haciendo desde hace varios años para pasar a grabarlo con su propio sello independiente Heartfixer Music. MUY BUENO. Singer, guitar player and song writer Tinsley Ellis was born in Atlanta but grew up in Florida. One day he was on a B. B. King’s show when he gave him a guitar string that was just broken. At that particular moment Tinsley decided he wanted to be a blues guitarist. Back to Atlanta, Ellis was member of The Alley Cats and shortly after, he formed a band called The Heartfixers, including singer and harmonica player Chicago Bob Nelson. When Nelson left the group, Tinsley decided to fall apart and start his a new career playing alone. This new album has not been recorded for Alligator Records as he usually has done in recent years. to record it for his own independent label Heartfixer Music. Now he gives us ten new own songs that follow his usual style mostly based in

high sharp and powerful rock-blues, with the exceptions of some ballads like "See No Harm" and "Surrender" or even a slow minor key blues "Kiss of Death" that ends the album. In short words, this is an ambitious well done record, which will certainly delight his fans but also will certainly call the attention of people who want to have fun and enjoy with good well done music.
