Welcome BBQ Feedback Feedback from the attendees included: fantastic, lighting on the oval was great - you could see the children, Mr Parry was great as usual, slushie machine was a big hit. It was questioned should we have the Coffee Van next time. Owner of the coffee van was disappointed as it wasn’t as profitable for him this time. It costs nothing for us to have him, if he does not wish to come in the future we can extend an invitation to Zarraffas, they just need notice of an event to organise their van. We are currently waiting on the invoice to come in from the drummer, once received the Treasurer can pay him.

Business Arising from Previous Minutes

Window tinting for Block 1 proposal

L Vayro gave an update on the window tinting for Block 1 (along the top). We have the grant from Energex and a new quote has come in at $100 more than last agreed upon. A vote was called to increase money given by P&F to $1100. Attendees voted, 15 in favour and NIL against.

Linda went on to advise that the teachers in Block 2 have expressed interest as the glare on the interactive boards is high and the teachers are using them more in their day to day activities. Price would be a little more expensive due to number of windows, $2200. Linda is looking into another grant through Telstra’s Kids Fund (see below) for $1200. Asked if P&F will pay, Treasurer said no as not enough funds at present. D Sewell advised that he was happy for the school to pay the amount above the grant should we get the grant.

General Correspondence

Telstra’s Kids Fund

A grant application was received from Telstra’s Kids Fund and L Vayro has applied for $1200 to supply and install window tint to 16 classrooms.

General Business

1. Welcome BBQ Feedback

Feedback from the attendees included: fantastic, lighting on the oval was great - you could see the children, Mr Parry was great as usual, slushie machine was a big hit.

2. P&F Annual Dinner

Shannon Jamieson is coordinating the Annual Dinner and the run sheet, menu, invitations and project plan has been completed. She has requested to increase the budget by $650 to put wine on the tables at the beginning of the night. A vote was called to increase the budget to $3500. Attendees voted, NIL in favour and 15 against. Budget to remain the same.

3. St George Bank Proposal

Georgiana Smith (who is a parent at the school) from St George Bank promoted the School Partnership Agreement and how it can benefit parents, the community and the school. When a parent of the school changes their home loan to St George the school will receive a .02% commission on the size of the loan. For the month of March the parents will also receive a $1250 rebate. St George are willing to beat any competitor’s interest rates. A flyer and Georgiana’s business card is attached.

New business Mother’s Day Stall

J Bourke asked if we were able to move the dates of the Mother’s Day Stall to 2nd May due to the grade 6’s being away for the Canberra trip. A suggestion was made that because new dates may clash with other events, stock be put aside for the year 6s. It was agreed to leave the original dates as is.

Sacraments

J Bourke enquired about sacraments being run through the school. D Sewell advised that these are run through the Parishes by order of the Arch Bishop. He suggested that J Bourke approach St Mary’s parish to see if they would facilitate a group at the school.

School drop off zone

K Hughes brought up the lack of courtesy of the drivers at the school drop off and pick up zones. D Sewell advised that this is an ongoing issue and he is doing as much as he can about it, so far increasing teachers on duty and putting reminders in the newsletter.

Rubbish around the school

K Hughes suggested the school run an EMU parade to clean up the gardens as they are currently filled with rubbish making the school untidy. D Sewell took this on board.

School banking

The question was raised again about school banking. D Sewell advised that last time this was brought up there wasn’t a lot of parent support. He also does not have the man power for the collection and would require a volunteer - K Hughes advised that she would be happy to do this. D Sewell will look into this again and asked K Hughes to see him separately to follow this up.

Parent Support Person

It was questioned whether the Parent Support Persons have been decided on and what is happening. J Riddell has advised that she is just waiting on a couple of more nominations from the classes that do not have any as yet and once this done she will be able to run the information groups and then advise the classes. She is hoping to finalise within the next week or so.

Principals Report Positive Behaviour Initiative

The leadership team are currently working on the school wide Positive Behaviour Initiative. The following expectations have been finalized: Responsible; Safe; Respectful; Positive.

The message is the children’s attitude, a way of being at school. It will involve adopting a common language that is consistent across the staff. Promotion will be done via signs and teaching of the plans to the students.

Student behaviour systems will be reviewed for bullying, swearing and violence, and the initiative will enable data on behavior to be gathered, issues to be pin pointed and strategies revisited. Dave Higgins will be engaged in the process if needed. The behaviour management will be firm, fair and consistent.

Manra Way crossing

D Sewell advised that the new crossing and fence on Manra Way was released on facebook prior to him being able to announce it. Construction has started, just waiting on the fence and then the aim is to get Lollipop people in place to man the crossing in the mornings and afternoons - looking into logistics.

After School Care building

Once the new facility (under the hub) is built and completed, the demountable building will need to be removed by St Mary’s Parish. Once we have the land back a decision can be made on what should go there. The new facility is due to be completed by June/July 2015, with a capacity of 100 to 110 children. D Sewell is hoping to have pictures of the plans at next meeting. The issue of where the P&F storage will be moved to will be looked into.
