St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 2:2-10 Prokeimenon. Mode 4. Psalm 103.4,1 Who makes his angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire Verse: Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God you are very great. BRETHREN, if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him, while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will. For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. It has been testified somewhere, "What is man that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man, that thou carest for him? Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one. For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering. Κύριε ὁ Θεός µου, ἐµεγαλύνθης σφόδρα. Ἀδελφοί, εἰ ὁ δι΄ ἀγγέλων λαληθεὶς λόγος ἐγένετο βέβαιος, καὶ πᾶσα παράβασις καὶ παρακοὴ ἔλαβεν ἔνδικον µισθαποδοσίαν, πῶς ἡµεῖς ἐκφευξόµεθα τηλικαύτης ἀµελήσαντες σωτηρίας; Ἥτις, ἀρχὴν λαβοῦσα λαλεῖσθαι διὰ τοῦ κυρίου, ὑπὸ τῶν ἀκουσάντων εἰς ἡµᾶς ἐβεβαιώθη, συνεπιµαρτυροῦντος τοῦ θεοῦ σηµείοις τε καὶ τέρασιν, καὶ ποικίλαις δυνάµεσιν, καὶ πνεύµατος ἁγίου µερισµοῖς, κατὰ τὴν αὐτοῦ θέλησιν. Οὐ γὰρ ἀγγέλοις ὑπέταξεν τὴν οἰκουµένην τὴν µέλλουσαν, περὶ ἧς λαλοῦµεν. Διεµαρτύρατο δέ πού τις λέγων, Τί ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος, ὅτι µιµνήσκῃ αὐτοῦ; Ἢ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου, ὅτι ἐπισκέπτῃ αὐτόν; Ἠλάττωσας αὐτὸν βραχύ τι παρʼ ἀγγέλους· δόξῃ καὶ τιµῇ ἐστεφάνωσας αὐτόν· πάντα ὑπέταξας ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ. Ἐν γὰρ τῷ ὑποτάξαι αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα, οὐδὲν ἀφῆκεν αὐτῷ ἀνυπότακτον. Νῦν δὲ οὔπω ὁρῶµεν αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα ὑποτεταγµένα. Τὸν δὲ βραχύ τι παρʼ ἀγγέλους ἠλαττωµένον βλέποµεν Ἰησοῦν, διὰ τὸ πάθηµα τοῦ θανάτου δόξῃ καὶ τιµῇ ἐστεφανωµένον, ὅπως χάριτι θεοῦ ὑπὲρ παντὸς γεύσηται θανάτου. Ἔπρεπεν γὰρ αὐτῷ, διʼ ὃν τὰ πάντα, καὶ διʼ οὗ τὰ πάντα, πολλοὺς υἱοὺς εἰς δόξαν ἀγαγόντα, τὸν ἀρχηγὸν τῆς σωτηρίας αὐτῶν διὰ παθηµάτων τελειῶσαι.

7th Sunday of Luke The Gospel of Luke 8:41-56 At that time, there came to Jesus a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and falling at Jesus' feet he besought him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As he went, the people pressed round him. And a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind him, and touched the fringe of his garment; and immediately her flow of blood ceased. And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" When all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the multitudes surround you and press upon you!" But Jesus said, "Some one touched me; for I perceive that power has gone forth from me." And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace." While he was still speaking, a man from the ruler's house came and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more." But Jesus on hearing this answered him, "Do not fear; only believe, and she shall be well." And when he came to the house, he permitted no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were weeping and bewailing her; but he said, "Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But taking her by the hand he called, saying, "Child, arise." And her spirit returned, and she got up at once; and he directed that something should be given her to eat. And her parents were amazed; but he charged them to tell no one what had happened. 7th Sunday of Luke Κατὰ Λουκᾶν 8:41-56 Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἄνθρωπός τις προσῆλθε τῷ Ἰησοῦ ᾧ ὄνοµα ᾿Ιάειρος, καὶ αὐτὸς ἄρχων τῆς συναγωγῆς ὑπῆρχε· καὶ πεσὼν παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τοῦ ᾿Ιησοῦ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ, ὅτι θυγάτηρ µονογενὴς ἦν αὐτῷ ὡς ἐτῶν δώδεκα, καὶ αὕτη ἀπέθνησκεν. ᾿Εν δὲ τῷ ὑπάγειν αὐτὸν οἱ ὄχλοι συνέπνιγον αὐτόν. καὶ γυνὴ οὖσα ἐν ῥύσει αἵµατος ἀπὸ ἐτῶν δώδεκα, ἥτις ἰατροῖς προσαναλώσασα ὅλον τὸν βίον οὐκ ἴσχυσεν ὑπ᾿ οὐδενὸς θεραπευθῆναι, προσελθοῦσα ὄπισθεν ἥψατο τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱµατίου αὐτοῦ, καὶ παραχρῆµα ἔστη ἡ ῥύσις τοῦ αἵµατος αὐτῆς. καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς· τίς ὁ ἁψάµενός µου; ἀρνουµένων δὲ πάντων εἶπεν ὁ Πέτρος καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ· ἐπιστάτα, οἱ ὄχλοι συνέχουσί σε καὶ ἀποθλίβουσι, καὶ λέγεις τίς ὁ ἁψάµενός µου; ὁ δὲ ᾿Ιησοῦς εἶπεν· ἥψατό µού τις· ἐγὼ γὰρ ἔγνων δύναµιν ἐξελθοῦσαν ἀπ᾿ ἐµοῦ. ἰδοῦσα δὲ ἡ γυνὴ ὅτι οὐκ ἔλαθε, τρέµουσα ἦλθε καὶ προσπεσοῦσα αὐτῷ δι᾿ ἣν αἰτίαν ἥψατο αὐτοῦ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτῷ ἐνώπιον παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ, καὶ ὡς ἰάθη παραχρῆµα. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· θάρσει, θύγατερ, ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέ σε· πορεύου εἰς εἰρήνην.῎Ετι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχεταί τις παρὰ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγων αὐτῷ ὅτι τέθνηκεν ἡ θυγάτηρ σου· µὴ σκύλλε τὸν διδάσκαλον. ὁ δὲ ᾿Ιησοῦς ἀκούσας ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ λέγων· µὴ φοβοῦ· µόνον πίστευε, καὶ σωθήσεται. ἐλθὼν δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν οὐκ ἀφῆκεν εἰσελθεῖν οὐδένα εἰ µὴ Πέτρον καὶ ᾿Ιωάννην καὶ ᾿Ιάκωβον καὶ τὸν πατέρα τῆς παιδὸς καὶ τὴν µητέρα. ἔκλαιον δὲ πάντες καὶ ἐκόπτοντο αὐτήν. ὁ δὲ εἶπε· µὴ κλαίετε· οὐκ ἀπέθανεν, ἀλλὰ καθεύδει. καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ, εἰδότες ὅτι ἀπέθανεν. αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκβαλὼν ἔξω πάντας καὶ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς ἐφώνησε λέγων· ἡ παῖς, ἐγείρου. καὶ ἐπέστρεψε τὸ πνεῦµα αὐτῆς, καὶ ἀνέστη παραχρῆµα, καὶ διέταξεν αὐτῇ δοθῆναι φαγεῖν. καὶ ἐξέστησαν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῖς. ὁ δὲ παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς µηδενὶ εἰπεῖν τὸ γεγονός.

PITTSBURGH METROPOLIS INVITATION: An invitation as guest celebrant and homilist by the Pittsburgh (OAKMONT)

Philoptochos to Father Eugene will be honored by the Pastor. Many thanks to Archimandrite Polycarpos Rameas who prepared the week-end festivities of the Philoptochos which responded by requesting Father Eugene as guest speaker on the theme THE REMNANT NUCLEAR FAMILY. Father’s delivery will highlight the dissolution of the modern family and its devastating alternatives facing the globe the nation and the church. Fr. Eugene will return on Monday November 16th.

BROOOKLYN BOROUGH PRESIDENT: Eric Adams has invited Fr. Eugene to attend a closed religious leaders brunch at Borough

Hall, Tuesday November 10th. Our Parish is numbered among the few in the “BOROUGH of CHURCHES” that has caught the good eye of the President. We are honored to be included in this circle of spiritual leadership.

SHUT IN COMMUNION: distribution will commence for the Advent period on Thursday , November 19th. May we suggest that a call

EMMAUS ADULT EDUCATION SERIES: commences Thursday November 12th---- 7:00 P.M. GENERAL ASSEMBLY: on Sunday, November , 22nd. The FALL ASSEMBLY will be convened at 1:00 P.M. in WHITEHALL for all

stewardship members of the Parish. You must be a registered participant in the spiritual and sacramental life of the Church to be a speaking and voting member. Your attendance, input and voting privilege is most important.

PHILOPTOCHOS MEETING: will convene tomorrow evening, Monday November 09th . at 7:00 P.M. in Whitehall. All ladies are

urged to attend and support the new administration of officers. COLOR GUARD of Boy Scout Troop #531 is to be commended for their patriotic response to the call of duty to GOD and COUNTRY

today, as we honor the G.A.V.A. (Greek American Veterans Association) on Veterans Day. The congregation will share in the singing of ‘GOD BLESS AMERICA’ as the traditional wreath is laid at our ‘MEMORIAL MONUMENT ‘ outside the entrance of our church.

PRAYER and HEALING: service with anointing for health and restored health. The prayer ‘group’ meets once a month with homily,

instruction, scripture, prayers, anointing and witnessing. All YOU have to do is sit and listen… and then apply what you have learned to life and your personal experience. Join us on the appointed and designated day.

T.H.Y. YOUTH ACTIVITIES: THY meets every Friday night at 9 P.M. It is for children between the ages of 12-17. We encourage

you to bring your children for activities, social events and fun THY starts on Friday October 2nd. Also the Biddy Program is every Saturday morning. The THY Biddy program runs from 10-11 AM. It is for ages 2-9. Your children will learn the game of basketball from some of the best. Don’t miss out on this free opportunity for your children or grandchildren.
