JT - selling point, Y/N?

I was just wondering about the influence of celebrity watch endorsements. For those of you that either

have either already bought a Jason Taylor Invicta watch or are strongly considering buying one, did the

fact that Jason Taylor endorses them have any influence on you?

I just wonder why Invicta picked him as their celebrity to represent the brand. In my admittedly 100%

informal research, he's not the most recognizable celebrity or even former professional athlete.

In this case, your premise is not accurate.

Jason is not a celebrity endorser for Invicta. He is not paid to endorse the Invicta line or the JT for Invicta

line.

Jason is a business partner with Invicta. He helped to create & develop the collection.

Therefore, it has nothing to do... with if "you" know who he is or not. Because he is not the celebrity

I have to respectfully disagree that Invicta/Eyal isn't counting on Mr. Taylor's celebrity cache to sell a few

more watches than they otherwise would. I haven't noticed the company trotting out the head engineer

of the new Cordubas or Zeuses to do any shows on the Shop.

Regardless of the net effect, Jason is not a celebrity endorser (as the OP suggested). He is not paid to

endorse Invicta.

If one was to read the initial post above, they would be misinformed & have the wrong impression of the

relationship.

I can see where this is going if we continue down this road. I thought Mike cleared this up last night.

The whole Jason Taylor thing is getting old. He is the friend of a CEO of a watch company, and they

decided to go into a business venture together.

I bought one because they are special, different, limited, and bad ass!

Jason seems cool, has had a solid career, and obviously was a huge part of the designs.

Go get one!

I strongly agree with most of what you typed. Invicta is obviously banking on his status and name to sell

watches; otherwise why put his name on the collection and dials. Also, for someone who is not a

sponsor/endorser he sure does appear in many of the ads and literature, (not an endorser, LOL). He may

not have been paid a fee to sponsor however a business partner/celebrity endorser/sponsor can also

take a percentage of sales/revenues, but we wont call this "being paid".

The problem with me is not so much the name because I could care less whose name is on the watch as

long as I like it. The JT watches are really nice, specially the JT Zeus. However to sell a quartz watch, put a

recognized name on the dial, call it limited, and try to sell it at a handsome price of $900+ is an insult to

me. At the end of the day it's an Invicta Zeus on a bracelet (quartz movement) that will be produced in

many variations in the future.

Now before all the lovers out there get worked up this is my personal opinion, you have yours and I

respect that, I don't expect you to agree with me.

Well, I can let you know the facts, or you can choose to make up your own.

My understanding is JT and eyal are friends that went into business together for this line. I don't think he

is a spokesman for invicta. I do think his celebrity is the reason for calling it the JT line.

At the end of the day JT and Eyal are two friends that decided to become more than that business

partners....I too had the wrong impression about JT and his relationship with Invicta....Its often

dangerous to come to conclusions when you don't have all the facts...JT is an athlete and does have

celebrity appeal but he is much more than that he has a vested interest/stake in developing a line of

watches that Invicta will develop manufacture and sell to the public...I'm sure JT has invested some of

his own money in this venture and therefore is committed to seeing his line become successful.

As far as being paid....Yah like any business partner you want to see you investment pay off and your

line succeed...JT and his line of timepieces is doing very well and I wish him all the best..
