* Many rounds such as the 7.62mm and 5.56mm that are used in ries can vary in terms of what protection it can pass through. Some rounds in various locations can have a higher hardness rating then others. This may be down to the materials used in its man-ufacturer. Some rounds have a harder steel core which will pass through a level III plate for example. We recommend taking a higher level of protection (level IV) in these areas just to be on the safe side if these harder rounds are in circulation.
#2 PHILIPPINES
The Phillipines is a very dangerous place for journalists to go. The main reasoning for the violence in the Philip-pines is that it is politically motivated, criminality relat-ed and group conict driven. There is a lot of tension between both the rebels and the government at the minute and a lot of violence is down to government elections. Also there is a 'culture of impunity' where powerful gures issue kill-ings of people and journalists. Because of their high status, they organise these killings without the fear of being caught and most of the time get away with it.
Philippines
#1 IRAQ
Saddam Hussien led a brutal dictatorship of Iraq from the 1980’s to 2003. He invaded and occupied Kuwait for a small period of time. The US invaded Iraq because Iraq violated U.N Security Council resolutions, because of what Saddam Hussein did against his people and because of the manufacture of weapons of mass destuction which posed a threat worldwide. Because of this conict journalists have often being caught in the crossre or targetted.

#3 SYRIA
The trouble began in Syria when protests started against President Bashar Al-Assad's in 2011. Protesters demanded an end to his practices of the assad regime. To calm the situation down the Syrian Government used extensive force through the use of the police and military forces. Protesters were beaten and killed. Oppositions began to form to ght the gov-ernment and that is when it became a fulledged civil war.

#9 INDIA
In India, guns are very common. Most people own a rearm, an increase in crime and a fear of terrosrists has brought this on. The main killings here are not because of guns however, but knives and machetes. There is however an increase in gun violence, this is down to emergence of a gun rights organisations.

#7 SOMALIA
Somalia has not had a stable government in place for years. A replacement could not be found after Presi-dent Barre in 1991. This resulted in a lawless country with clan warefare. There were major ghts between warlords which meant civilians got injured or killed. Also because that there were no laws in place, piracy became a major threat to international shipping. Although there has been a lot of violence in the past, a new government has taken over which has resulted in the country being more stable. However there is still a large threat to journalists.

#8 COLOMBIA
Colombia is often a country where violent attacks can take place between protesters and security forces. Peaceful protests here often turn violent when vandals get involved, with the primary purpose of caus-ing damage and destruction. This often results in inju-ries. There are also groups in Colombia that oer great-er threats and operate in vast areas of Columbia. Most of the time these groups are responsible for the massa-cres and killings. There are not enough police units to cope with where these groups operate, also security groups often put upwith these groups and do nothing about the violence they bring to areas.

#6 PAKISTAN
There are regular attacks by gunmen on government forces and specic targets. This is normally down to the Pakistan Taliban who claim reponsibilty for some of these attacks. Also there are often suicide attacks and many bomb related attacks that rip through the country. There are often random killings in cities by gun men. Over 18,000,000 civilians carry guns on them, so protection would be required at all times.

#10 MEXICO
Mexico has regular drug wars. This is down to crack-downs by the police on criminal groups. There is often violence between criminial groups around the borders where they try to send drugs over the border. The mili-tary has had to be brought in on a few occasion to restore some calm. There are also ghts between rival drug gangs for control of territory and drug shipment routes. This often results in injuries and deaths to the public. The main players in these drug related violence are the Zetas and the Sinaloa Cartel.

#2 BRAZIL
With Brazil holding the FIFA world cup 2014 this in turn has brought out a lot of violence and clashes. Both the police and protesters have clashed many times down to the fact that the protesters are furious about the amount of money that has being spent on this sporting event, yet very little money goes to communities that are in poor conditions. There is also an increase in gun violence as there is a greater availabilty to rearms and drug use has also resulted in violence between gangs and police.

#1 UKRAINE
There have been many clashes recently between Ukraine and Russian rebels over the area of Crimea. Also clashes in Ukraine between police and anti government protesters which has resulted in a number of deaths, are still ongoing. It is unknown whether this is down to Russia and them orchestrating the violence in Ukraine. There have been strong links to suggest that forces in Russia are supplying the heavily armed militants with weapons.

#3 AFGANISTAN
Afganistan has seen an ongoing war between the NATO and allied forces and the Taliban. This all came about after the 9/11 attacks and the aim was to dismantle Al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power. This has been a long aair which has lasted over 10 years. The aim is to get a stable goverment in power and reduce the number of Nato personal in the eld. With elections taking place this has increased the violence by the Taliban as they look to destruct this as much as possible.
