buncher to piclc up late aircraft, Wing assembly was not completed until reaching Splasher "8".

c. Rwte over England: Corners were out on Points ".&" & "Btt to catch up on time. However, the Wing got into proper Division formation. Coast was departed sueral min*tes late,

on course.

4. Attack:

a. Flight ~ Target: Bombing interval was assumed over the English channel. High fog was encountered at the enemy coast in which visibility dropped to approximately 1500' and groups lost visual contact.

b. Bombing Run:

Lead Box: The "Gee" lines in the lead GH A/C faded out on bomb run and GH Operator was unable to drop. There was insufficient time for a second run as other groups were following.

High Box: The GH Operator acquired a satisifactory picture and bombs were dropped with unobserved results. Those A/C within visual contact also dropped.

Low Box: The GH Operator was off course and decided not to drop. As the ships were flying thrrugh clouds and other grcnps wt~t-re following it was not advisable to attempt a second run.

Co Flight ~ Target: In order to escape flak over Lille a long turn was made from the target. Grouos returned as separate units, the briefed course being used for the route home from enemy coast.

d. Return to Base: A letdown was made through a hole in the under cast and normal landings were made. All aircraft landed safely at home base.

e. Weather: 10/lOths abare and below 26,000' at target, solid to 28,000'.

f. Fighter Support' Probably on hand but weather didn't permit any being observed.

g. Conclusions and Recommendations: None.

5. Aircraft~ Attacking:

Lead Box: All A/C did not attack.

High Box: A/C 40-107151 - Not SDrtie. Returned early because;Oil leak in =If 3 engine. Remaining A/C (except 659,236,602 & GH 777) did not attack.

Low Box: All A/C did not attack.

Lead Box: Eleven 40ls t A/C returned 220 x 250//= M57 • GH A/C 016 returned 19 X 250/f= M57.

High Box: lhree 40ls t A/C dropped 60 x 260/1= M57 on ,I>rima.ry. GH A/C 777 dropped 19 x 250//= M57 on primary. One AfC jettisoned 20 x 25QW M57 and six returned 120 x 25~ M57. The aborting a/c returned 20 bombs.

Low' Box: Eleven 40ls t A/C returned 220 x 250//= M57. GH A/C 7 43 returned 18 X 250/f M57 •

b. Observations: None - solid underaast.
