She was very open about the dangers, age requirements (law) and different social media apps and appropriate use. Students were able to clarify their understanding as well. If your child is underage and have accounts it is actually the parents who are breaking the law by allowing the child to have an account. Each week I will attach a Fact sheet for different apps. This week is Tik Tok. Did you know you need to be 12+ to sign up for Tik Tok? Thank you to all our parents/carers for their continued understanding and support in adhering to the current guidelines, particularly with reference to morning drop offs, afternoon pick-ups and early leavers. Please remember these guidelines are in place to help keep everyone safe. Our K-2 Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 18 th August at school and Cross Country on Thursday August 27th. We had hoped that the restrictions on parents/carers entering school grounds would have been lifted by then but under the current circumstances this seems very unlikely. Unfortunately, this will mean that only students and staff will be able to be present on both carnival days. Last year the P&C ran a competition to design a new P&C logo. The winner of the competition was Hannah who received a $100 voucher from Weave and her design will be used on all official P&C documents. Why did Hannah choose this design? ‘My design shows the beautiful Bellinger River with the Dorrigo mountains sitting behind our town. The snapping turtle is unique to Bellingen and everyone comes together to try to look after them. The footprints along the bottom mark where people have walked along the river for thousands of years. The hands joining together in the sunset show that at Bellingen Public School we work together and look after each other. The bright colours represent the sparkliness of our town.’ Congratulations Hannah! Congratulations to Laura and Hannah who came first and second in the Junior section of the ‘Bello, I Love Writing’ Competition. I have attached their stories – ‘What They Need’ and ‘Frog Wars’ for your reading pleasure. We certainly have some talented students across the school. Congratulations to all our Student of the Month Award winners. It was wonderful to be a part of the acknowledgment of their achievements. Well done everyone! We have been asked to video students at assembly or doing special things across the school. Unfortunately, there are students who do not have permission to publish and therefore we can only take photos to ensure we support everyone’s privacy wishes. I’m sure you would have heard our new bell system. Thank you to the P&C who contributed to the cost. Please be patient while we work out the volume of the songs and bells. In the meantime feel free to have a little dance because you are ‘Happy!’ Ness Cavanagh, Principal Kindergarten 2021 Do you have a child at home who will be coming to our school in 2021? From the Principal Dear Parents and Carers Last week Jo Brooker, Youth Liaison Officer, Coffs Clarence Region spoke to Stage 3 about Cyber Safety. She was very open about the dangers, age requirements (law) and different social media apps and appropriate use. Students were able to clarify their understanding as well.

Our K-2 Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 18th August at school and Cross Country on Thursday August 27th.

The snapping turtle is unique to Bellingen and everyone comes

The hands joining together in the sunset show that at Bellingen Public School we work together and look after each other.
