12. COLOUR REFLECTED MYSELF
We all live in a world where at some point, colour will be a part of, and effect us
in our every day lives.
WHAT IS COLOR
Colour is simply light of different wavelengths and frequencies and light is just
one form of energy that we can actually see that is made up from photons. We
are all surrounded by electromagnetic waves of energy of which colour is just a
small part.
How we see color
The human eye and brain together translate light into color. Light receptors
within the eye transmit messages to the brain, which produces the familiar
sensations of color.

1. All the "inv isible" colors of sunlight shine on the apple.
2. The surface of a red apple absorbs all the colored light rays, except for those
corresponding to red, and reflects this color to the human eye.
3. The eye receives the reflected red light and sends a message to the brain.
The most technically accurate definition of color is:
"Color is the visual effect that is caused by the spectral composition of the light
emitted, transmitted, or reflected by objects."
Color Systems
Additive Color System Red - Green - Blue (RGB
The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and
blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array
of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three
additive primary colors, red, green, and blue.
When combined, red and green light rays produce yellow, blue and
green produce cyan, red and blue produce magenta. Red, green and
blue mix to create white (light).
This system applies only to devices employing light, such as
computer monitors and television sets.
Subtractive Color System
Red - Yellow - Blue
Primary Colour Secondary Colour Tertiary Colour
red, yellow and blue is the 3 basic primary colors.
These primaries are the pure colors which can not be created by mixing
any other colors.
Secondary hues are the result of mixing any of the two primaries.
Tertiary colors result from mixing the secondary hues.
The CMYK Color System
Cyan - Magenta - Yellow - Black

Color Wheel

A color wheel or color circle is an abstract illustrative organization
of color hues around a circle that shows relationships between primary
colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors

Color Harmonies
Analogous
Analogous color schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color
wheel. They usually match well and create serene and comfortable designs.
Complementary
Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel are considered to be
complementary colors.
Split Complementary
The split-complementary color scheme is a variation of the complementary color
scheme. In addition to the base color, it uses the two colors adjacent to its
complement.
Triad
A triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color
wheel.
Tetrad (Square)
The Tetrad color scheme is similar to the rectangle, but with all four colors
spaced evenly around the color circle.
Achromatic Colour
Hue,Value,Saturation or Intensity,Temperature
To give a precise description of a colour can be difficult and frustrating.
Colour has four distinct properties: hue, value, saturation, temperature.
To understand colour you must understand how these four properties relate
to each other.
Hue: The name of the color.
Value: The lightness or darkness of hue.
Saturation or intensity (chroma): The purity of hue, brightness or dullness.
Temperature: The warmth and coolness of hue.
Hue
A hue name is the name of the colour which is used to describe a particular
wavelength.
Different hues can be obtained by mixing two primaries, two adjacent colours or
two complementary colours in equal or unequal proportions.
• Chromatic: Having hue, any colours other than white, grey and black.
• Achromatic: Black, white and grey colours
• Polychromatic: Having many hues
• Monochromatic: Having one hue only, Many values of a single colour
Image Sources : http://www.dsource.in/
Value
Value is concerned with the light and dark properties of colour.
All colours exhibit these properties.
All hues can be made in all values.
Adding white paint will make any pigment lighter. Adding black paint will
make most pigments darker.
Black, white and gray are values without colour.
White is the highest possible value while black is the lowest.
Gray as the midpoint between black and white, is a medium value,
neither dark nor light.
Saturation
The third descriptive quality of colour is saturation, or chroma or intensity.
Saturation is a comparative property and like value is linear and
progressive.

Temperature
The temperature of a colour is its relative warmth or coolness.
Cool and warm are two opposing qualities of hue.
Cool colours contain blue or green: blues, greens, violets, and steps between them.
Warm colours are reds, oranges, yellow, and steps between them.
Colour temperatures affect us both psychologically and perceptually.
Warm Color Cool Color
Tints, Shades & Tone
Tints : In color theory, a tint is the mixture of a colorwith white, which
increases lightness. A hue produced by the addition of white.
Shapes : shade is the mixture of a color with black, which reduces lightness. A
hue produced by the addition of black.
Tones : A tone is produced either by the mixture of a color with gray, or by both
tinting and shading. A hue produced by the addition of Grey

Color Reflect
Music
This is my final assignment – “Music”.
I draw music notation to be my final assignment. I use a lot of color to colour it. The color is has been use is red, pink, green, orange, yellow, blue, v iolet, white
and brown. I use red, orange, yellow, pink, blue, v iolet, and brown colour the
background and use red, pink, green, and white to color the three music
notation.
First, I use yellow, red, and orange colors to paint my background. In the color symbolism, red color is represent power, heat, passion, love, and happiness.
Furthermore, yellow color symbolism joy, happiness, idealism, imagination, hope,
and friendship. Besides that, orange represent energy, warmth, and v ibrant. I
want to show that there are many things happen in this colorful world no matter
happy or unhappy. In our long-life path, we will meet up of many different
people, incidents and things. However, most of my memories are happy
moments, and I enjoyed it very much. Through my artwork, each color
symbolizes everyone and everything that had appeared in my life before. Life, is
such like a music, containing melody and lyrics, which composing my life story.
Next, I also use the color v iolet mix with blue color and pink color at the bottom of background. Violet is means spirituality, wisdom, and mysterious. Blue color
represent peace, cold, harmony, and depression. In our daily life, we can found
that many things or meet up something is mysterious or magical thing an
unimaginable. This all make us full of hope and v ision to our future.
Moreover, I use the red color red, green, and pink to colour the three music notation. Green color represent nature, healthy, good, lucky, youth, and
environment. Pink color represent love, romance, caring, and calm. I use this all
of color – red, yellow, orange, pink, violet, blue, green, and white to color my
final assignment – “Music”, is because I want to bring the messages that life is
colourful and everything can happened surround us. And that all just like a
music, a wonderful music, maybe sometimes we are in happy, but we also will
be sad, no one can happy always as long of the life, and this same with music.
The music called nice and good when this music consist climax, flat, and
desperate. But remember dun easy to give up, no fate but we make it.
