Guidelines for Preparation of Manuscripts:
Format – The entire manuscript, including test, footnotes, charts, and quotations, must be provided in an
electronic format as follows:
Documents accepted in Microsoft Word or compatible program.
The document should be prepared in Times New Roman, font size 12, and single spaced.
Supporting files, charts, graphs may be sent in Excel or PowerPoint.
All charts, tables or non-text elements must be in black and white. No color submissions of any
kind will be accepted.
Maximum height and width of any graphic is 7" high and 4.25" wide.
Any articles submitted with mathematical equations or special characters should also be supplied
as a PDF file, as some of these special characters may not translate in a Word Document.
All contributing authors will be expected to proof their articles on two occasions prior to final print.
Length – The preferred length of manuscripts is between 2000 and 5000 words. Manuscripts of any length
will be considered. The final determinant of an acceptable length is the subject matter of the article. The
Editor reserves the right to edit manuscripts for length.
Style – Punctuation should be kept simple, adding to the readability of the article. Tables and exhibits
should be numbered. Footnotes should include author’s name, title of reference, publisher, and date.
Unless a direct quote is used, no page or volume numbers are required in footnotes. References or
bibliographies should be included at the end of the document.
Review and Editing:
Submission – All manuscripts should be e-mailed to AMIfs at [email protected] . Please include an Adobe
pdf as an illustration of the preferred final view if possible. If manuscripts include copyright material other
than quotes, a letter of permission to reprint from the copyright holder must accompany submissions.
Review/Editing – Articles are screened by the Editor and may be sent to other reviewers for comment.
Manuscripts are evaluated based on coverage of the subject matter and whether it will be of interest to
readers. Each manuscript is edited for grammar, punctuation, and structure, and may be returned to the
author for suggested changes.
The review process generally takes 2-4 months. If a manuscript is accepted for publication, the Copyright
Agreement must be signed and returned within 10 days for final approval. Published articles become the
property of AMI and may not be reprinted without permission of the publisher.
