Introduction These are a selection of stories and journal strips, written over a 25 week period from September 2013 to February 2014. They are a period when I was participating in counselling sessions on a weekly basis and were usually done in response to a session in the week that followed it. I began counselling sessions incredibly nervously, my expecta-tions were, as I say in one strip, somewhat Freudian and I was expecting it to point fingers in a lot of directions that weren’t me. As it was, all fingers pointed directly at me and made me realise that any problems I had were in some way down to either my responses to situations based on learned behaviours or re-sponses to my perceived beliefs about other peoples, perceived, expectations. It was, of course, more complex than that and I’ve only scratched the surface, identifying the problem was far easier than dealing with it, even with God’s help. Suffice to say that the last 25 weeks have set me on a journey far more positive than the road I was starting to head down at the beginning of September and for that Mel, my counsellor, has my gratitude’ Peter Bangs 11 February 2014
