Inspiring art piece I thought was interesting is a wall projec-tion piece that audience members in Spain controlled through using vodafone consoles. I though it was pretty ingenious since I have plenty of projection art where the audience members interact but never in a controlling matter. Open source was very interesting subject. Open source is a good thing if kept in a certain arena and officiated to make sure hackers don't take advantage of all the info they get-ting about your program. I can understand why government agencies shy from open source for it's inherit security issues. Open source is a good idea for making creative software applications and programing but bad for security because of all the eyes that can see the source code. Check this out:

My idea of interactive design is based on the belief that digital artifacts should be human centered simple and easy to use but structurally complex. I guess that is why I like mac and it's products. The graphical approach they took deferred from DOS and I think they were in tune with there market which is me. Though I do often feel the frustration that comes along with the the interface masking the system so much that it is hard to understand what is going on when the system crashes.

I believe games can exist without having rules and can be seen as art much like Tale of Tales "The Endless Forrest" (http://tale-of-tales.com/) and the Greg Costikyan's defini-tion. You may think well do Auriea Harvey and Michaël Samyn see endless forest as a game...they do. At least that is what they said at art history of games conference last year I attended. Some people just have to have rules I guess.

Steve Jackons’s company was raided by the U.S Secret Service on March 1st 1990 for Data Piracy and guilt by remote association with Loyd Blankenship. I found this part funny that in the end he was totally innocent and the government was over reacting.

In my opinion games can be narrative but not reliant on a narrative to ensure immersion in the medium. Interactive narratives or games that rely on narratives employ that same meaning except the player is an active member of the story to some degree through participation. I felt Analysis of how poker is narritive to be absurd.

My artist I am looking at is the Digital Artist Dennis Miller in specific piece I am looking at is the piece Residue created in 1999. Unlike earlier works by its composer, the animation and music were created simultaneously. Many multimedia artist have used this technique of combine sound design and animation together in abstract animations. One recently that I remember is Flux by Candas Sisman (http://vimeo.com/15395471) there we will see similar approach to the idea of sound and animation coming together. These techniques sometimes have been called sound sculptures.

Marketing and branding wise Nike is about to walk into a gold mine if they do this right. They basically created a social network for runners who use their equipment. They also tied their product to apple so runs can be synced with you ipod nano, iphone, ipod touch etc. The way it works is you first have an ipod etc and you buy a sensor that goes with apple product and your shoe...then you run while listening to your favorite music. When you get home and plug your ipod up to your computer and your runs are uploaded to the nike+ server.

Man this has been a crazy week with the death in my family and me facing a almost impossible task of the 3d cube. I can’t seem to get my head around the code, but one of the perks of being a professor is having friends who teach it. My friend and coworker Brandon Brown has helped me a lot. I will be so glad to have this done.

It is done and so I can relax ahhhhhhhhhhh!
