WHO WAS JOSIAH?Josiah came from

a turbulent time. He was made king

at a very young age of eight after his father, King Amon, was murdered by his own servants.

(2 Kings 21:19 – 26; 2 Kings 22:1)

He was the last hope of Judah after God promised destruction for Jerusalem and Judah because of what King Manasseh did.

(2 Kings 21:11 -13)

The Bible would record Josiah as a King who“did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.

(2 Kings 22:2)

“And before him there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him.”

(2 Kings 23:25)

WHAT CHALLENGES DID JOSIAH FACE?

He Repairs the Temple

And let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen who have oversight of the house of the Lord, and let them give it to the workmen who are in the house of the Lord to repair the damages

of the house, to the carpenters and the builders and the masons and for buying timber and hewn stones to repair the house.

(2 Kings 22:5 – 6)

He Recovers the Law

Shaphan the scribe told the king saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

And it came about when the king heard the words of the book of the law, that he tore his clothes.(2 Kings 22:10 – 11)

He Renews the Covenant

The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD—to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees

with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

(2 Kings 23:3)

He Reforms the Nation

Just as he had done at Bethel, Josiah removed and defiled all the shrines at the high places that the kings of Israel had built in the towns of Samaria that had provoked the LORD to anger.

Josiah slaughtered all the priests of those high places on the altars and burned human bones on them. Then he went back to Jerusalem.

(2 Kings 23: 19 – 20)

GOD HAS A PLAN FOR EACH AND EVERYONE OF US……JEREMIAH 29:11

BUT THERE ARE TIMES THAT OUR WORLD

BREAKS AND FALLS APART.

WHEN THAT HAPPENS WHAT LESSONS

CAN WE GET THEN FROM THE STORY

OF JOSIAH?

ACCEPT THE AUTHORITY AND MANDATE OF GOD AND HIS WORD

He Renews the Covenant

REAFFIRM YOUR TRUST AND DEPENDENCE ON OUR FATHER

He Reforms the Nation

CONTINUE TO PURSUE HIS PURPOSE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR YOU…..CLAIM IT!

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new

ending.
