Physical Computing - Serial Input and Output Control of Interactive Multimedia

The problem to solve was getting input and output devices to control (and be controlled) by multimedia software, and demonstrating examples of this in action. As a primary application of this technology, a partnership was created with the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) Wabash Children’s Center team. Previous work by the team consisted of building an interactive spaceship that acts as a simulator, toy, and edutainment tool. The end result was developed input and output functionality, demonstrated in the EPICS spaceship’s hardware and software.
