Joshua Foer Joshua Foer was born in Washington, D.C., and educated from Yale with a BA, in 2004 in ecology and evolutionary biology. His writing has appeared in the New Yorker, National Geographic, Esquire, Slate, Out- side, the New York Times, and other publications. Foer’s first book, Moonwalking with Einstein, traces his evolution from journalist covering memory competitions to competing participant and, ultimately, to winner of USA’s 2006 Memory Championship! An international best seller, it was published in 34 languages. Foer is cofounder of the online guide Atlas Obscura and coauthor of the companion volune Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders, which topped the New York Times best-seller list. He is also cofounder of the nonprofit Sefaria, and of the design competition Sukkah City. Having defected from New Haven in 2015, he now lives in Brookline, Massachusetts where he is currently writing a book about the world’s last hunter-gatherers.

Joshua Foer
