Winter 2016-2017 HIGHLIGHTS

District Church of the Nazarene Joplin

Dear District family and friends, The past three and a half years have been the most enjoyable and fulfilling of our ministry experience to date. God has done amazing things through your faithfulness, hard work and responsiveness to His high calling. Because of these things, it is with deep gratitude and great hope that I submit my resignation to you. Although this resignation will not be final until June 2

and effective 30 days following that date, (July 2) when I resign officially at the 2017 District Assembly, I have submitted it to the DAB early (December 21, 2016) as suggested by our Jurisdictional General Superintendent, Dr. J K Warrick and our Regional Director, Dr. Bob Broadbooks. I submit it to you today for three reasons. First, it will help prepare us all for a strong finish of our ministry together. Secondly, it will give you and the District Advisory Committee (DAC) adequate time for due diligence in finding my replacement. Thirdly, to begin the overwhelming task of transitioning into a new assignment God has honored us the great privilege to fulfill. Although I have enjoyed serving as District Superintendent of the great Joplin District, it has become obvious to me for several weeks now, that God has given clear direction for us to serve His church in another role moving forward. It has always been our commitment to serve where the Spirit directs. As certain as it was to Cheri and I to serve on the Joplin District, we are equally confident God has called us to move and discover a new chapter in ministry as Director of Evangelism and New Church Development for the USA/Canada Region. We have been extremely honored and blessed to serve as your DS for these 4 years. After many weeks of fasting and praying, we have heard the clear voice of God. Our time on the Joplin District has been busy, fruitful and enjoyable because of the great laypeople and gifted pastors with whom we have had the privilege of serving. God has done amazing things through the help of the Spirit and our combined efforts. I believe, if we pray hard, work diligently, and rely on the help of the Spirit, our final year together will bring great joy to the Father, lasting Kingdom fruit and much rejoicing in Heaven.
