Hi from Ecuador!March has been very busy. Daniela and I led our annual discipleship camp in Cuenca wherewe taught the fundamentals of the Christian life to 9 youth. A week earlier, we held a disciple-ship camp here in Shell with 25 kids from this area. These are mostly kids who started theirrelationship with Jesus in our evangelistic camp last November. In their relationships withYoung Life leaders, they have been discipled and are growing as believers. It is great to seethese youth acquire a sense of community and family with other believers and know that theyare being given hope and a future that they wouldn't have without Jesus.

Therefore go andmake disciples of all
nations, baptizingthem in the name ofthe Father and ofthe Son and of theHoly Spirit, andteaching them toobey everything Ihave commandedyou. And surely I
am with you always,to the very end of

Until recently, there have been only 2 levels of administrationin Young Life Ecuador; the national director, Ivan Penafiel, and our 5 club directors under him. As the ministry hasgrown, especially here in the province of Pastaza, the need hasarisen to divide Ecuador into areas.
Normally, in the United States, an area has at least 3 clubs. Inthis region, there are only 2 but we are hoping to open a newclub, soon, in a nearby town. In the capital of Quito there arealso 2 clubs, but because of Quitos large population (1.7 mil-lion) and growth potential, Ivan wants to invest more of hisenergies there. He needs someone to oversee Pastaza when he
is in Quito. Ivan recently asked me and Daniela to be the area directors for this region.
Having examined the responsibilities and prayed together, we have decided to accept. Theprocess will take some time and we will be picking up responsibilities little by little. Our roleas area directors will primarily involve caring for the leadership (emotionally and spiritually),raising and administering funds and growing the ministry. We will continue to disciple youthone-on-one. We have been doing much of this for a while, but our roles will now be clearer.
We will return to the States in June to visit family and friends, fund-raise and share about theministry. We will also be in Kentucky for the CornerStone Summit in July. The Summit isheld every 5 years with all CornerStone missionaries gathering for a week. We look forwardto seeing as many of you as we can. We are planning our time in the States now, so please letus know if you would like to host us and we will make our best effort to come. We are alwaysglad to share about what God is doing here in Ecuador. Thank you for your faithful supportand God bless you all!
