My opponent claims she has suffered from a hostile work environment since February, but didnt resign

until five days before the election and only after being confronted with the removal of tax penalties

from a relatives tax bill..

My opponent claims she was falsely accused of removing the penalties and blames the current

Treasurer, Roddy Dickinson, for forcing her out of her job.

However, viewing the tax bill in online public records, it is obvious no penalties were included when the

bill was paid on February 3, 2016, even though, according to state law, penalties were automatically

incurred on January 16, 2016 and February 2, 2016.

Penalties are automatically added after the specific dates enumerated in state law Section 12-45-180.

They must be removed manually.

The tax bill in question can be viewed online on the horrycounty.org website in the tax payments and

receipts public records. The tax notice number is 217615153.

A memo line in the paperwork in the Treasurers file says, per Angie Jones missed when paid bulk

Treasurer error.

The only question that needs to be answered, but hasnt been addressed so far is - If Angie Jones was

not responsible for the penalties being removed, who was?

My opponent claims she is a victim of the Good Ole Boys system.

However, immediately after she resigned from the Treasurers Office she was hired for a position in the

Horry County Clerk of Courts office where her mother is Deputy Clerk of Court. Her press conference, at

which I understand she took no questions, included statements by Horry County Auditor Lois Eargle and

Horry County Clerk of Court Melanie Ward, both of whom appear in my opponents television

commercials. Jones, Eargle and Ward all trashed Horry County Treasurer Roddy Dickinson. It sounds like

this is the Good Ole Girlssystem at work.

The voters of Horry County understand political spin. I believe they will understand what was not said in

my opponents various statements more than what was said.
