Joker and Harley (from artwork by Alex Ross)

This block should be a 24 inch by 33.18 inch panel. There are ¼ inch seam allowances. There are a total

of 10 colors. Joker’s green eyes can be embroidered on or applied with permanent fabric paint/marker.

Construction in general will be worked in vertical panels, named “JOKER”, “ARMS” and “HARLEY”. Those

sections are subdivided as well.

Construction on JOKER is as follows:

Make (A+(B+C)+(D+E)). Make F+G. Join. Add H, then I. = Forehead.

Make J. Make (K+L+M+N). Make (O+P+Q+R+S+T). Make (U+V+W). Join pieces.

Make X. Join to previous pieces = Harley Face. Set aside.

Make (Y+Z). Make AA. Make (AB+(AE+AF)+(AC+AD)). Join this to AA. Then join to (Y+Z). Make AG and

join. Make AH and join. = Joker Face.

Join Harley Face to Joker Face = FACES Set aside.

Make AI. Set aside.

Make (AJ+(AK+AL+AM)). Make AN. Make ((AO+AP+AQ+AR+AS)+AN). Join pieces.

Join AI plus previous piece = Neck.

Join Neck to FACES. Set aside.

Make (AT+AU+AV+AW). Make (AX+AY+AZ+BA). Join together.

Make (BB+(BC+BD+BE). Join to previous piece = Shoulder.

Make ((BF+BG)+BH). Make (BI+BJ) Set aside.

Make (BK+BL+BM). Make BN. Make ((BO+BP+BQ+BR)+BS+BT+BU+BV) then add BW, then BX. Join these

three pieces.

Join sequentially to the top BY, BZ, CA and CB. Join previously made (BI+BJ). Join to Shoulder.

Join CC along the bottom = JCLOTHING

Join JCLOTHING to FACES. Set aside.

Construction of ARMS is as follows:

Make (CD+CE+CF+CG+CH+CI+CJ+CK). Make (CL+CM+CN+CO). Make (CP+CQ)+(CR+CS+CT). Make

(CU+(CV+CW)+CX). Make CY. Join all together = Hand1

Make ((CZ+DA+DB)+DC). Make DD and join to previous. Make (((DE+DF+DG+DH)+DI)+DJ) and join to

previous. Make (DK+DL+DM+DN+DO). Add sequentially DP, DQ, DR and DS. Join to previous pieces =

Hand2.

Make (DT+DU+DV+DW). Make ((DX+DY)+DZ+EA) and join to previous piece. Add EB to the top = Hand3.

Join (Hand1+Hand2+Hand3) = HAND.

Make EC. Make (ED+EE+EF). Join to EC.

Make (EG+(EH+EI)). Make (EJ+EK). Join to previous. Join with (EC et. Al.) = ARM.

Join ARM+HAND. Add sequentially EL, EM and EN = ARMS

Construction of HARLEY is as follows:

Make (EO+EP). Make ((EQ+ER)+ES). Add sequentially ET, EU and EV. Join to previous piece. Add EX and

join. Make EW and join = UPPERCORNER. Put asside

Make EY.

Make (EZ+(FA+FB)+FC). Make ((FD+FE+FF)+FG). Join to previous. Make ((FH+FI)+FJ+FK). Join to previous.

Join all to EY = HARLEYCHIN.

Make (FL+FM). Make (FN+FO). Make ((FP+FQ+FR)+FS). Make (FT+FU). Join (FT+FU) to (FP…). Add

(FN+FO) = HARLEYFOREARM.

Make ((FV+FW)+FX). Add FY, then FZ. Make GA. Join GA to previous piece. Join to HARLEYFOREARM.

Add GB, then (FL+FM) = HARLEYSHOULDER.

Join HARLEYSHOULDER to HARLEYCHIN = HARLEY1. Put aside.

Make (GC+GD+GE). Make ((GF+GG+GH)+GI+GJ+GK). Join to previous piece. Make GL and join =

HARLEYARM. Set aside.

Make ((GM+GN+GO)+GP+GQ). Make (GR+(GS+GT)). Join to previous. Add sequentially GU and GV =

STOMACH.

Make ((GW+GX)+GY+GZ). Make ((HA+HB)+HC+HD). Add to previous = JFINGERS.

Make ((HE+HF+HG)+HH). Add sequentially HI, HJ and HK. Add to JFINGERS = JHAND.

Make (HL+HM). Add to JHAND. Add sequentially HN and HO to JHAND.

Add JHAND to STOMACH = JHANDetc. Put aside.

Make ((HP+HQ)+(HR+HS)). Make and add sequentially HT, HU, HV and HW. Make (HX+(HY+HZ)+IA). Join

to previous = LAPEL.

Make (IB+(IC+ID)+IE). Join to LAPEL. Add IF to LAPEL.

Make (IG+IH+(II+IJ)+IK+IL) and add to LAPEL.

Make IM. Set aside. Make (IN+IO+IP+IQ+IR+IS). Join to IM. Make and join IT. Join to LAPEL.

Join LAPEL to JHANDetc = HARLEYBODY.

Make (IU+(IV+IW)+IX). Make and join IY to previous = LOWERCORNER.

Join UPPERCORNER+HARLEYBODY=LOWERCORNER = HARLEY

Once all three panels are completed, join HARLEY+JOKER+ARMS. Embroider or fabric paint Joker’s eyes.

Cry in joy that you have finished.
