OVERVIEW The Joint Movement Training (Part I) is delivered as a flexible, self-paced online learning unit, referred to as Arthritis Essentials®. Comprising three interrelated modules, Arthritis Essentials® provides a comprehensive knowledge base for management of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions, and covers anatomy relevant to arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions; the main categories and types of musculoskeletal conditions; and best practice management strategies. Each module contains information, graphics, embedded resources and some videos. Each module has a quiz which will assess your understanding of the content. At the end of the three modules you will be asked to complete and submit answers to two case studies. Each case study includes short answer questions designed to assess your understanding of the content through its application to the outlined scenario. You will be asked to identify the condition, management strategies and to select resources specific to the ‘individuals’ featured in the case studies. Completion of the online unit, including all assessment tasks, should take approximately 7 hours. To complete this unit you will need access to the internet and the ability to access Adobe (PDF) files. Completion of Arthritis Essentials® is a requisite for anyone seeking to become a licensed Joint Movement provider. It is recommended that this online component (Part I) be completed prior to completing the face to face practical training component (Part II) of the Joint Movement Training Course. JOINT MOVEMENT TRAINING PART I: To enrol in Arthritis Essentials® takes 3 easy steps: STEP 1: Obtain a USI If you don’t already have one, you will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Creating a USI will only take a few minutes and is free. To obtain a USI and/or find out more, visit www.usi.gov.au STEP 2: Create a login/account Go to the Arthritis Essentials® online learning portal at http:// learning.arthritistas.org.au and click on the blue login or create account button. This takes you to the Login page. Click on the green Create new account button, choose a username and password, fill in your details and click on the green Create my new account button. An email will be sent to your email address. Read this and click on the web link it contains. Your account will be confirmed and you will be logged in. STEP 3: Complete your enrolment Under the Home tab choose Arthritis Essentials®. On the next page check that Arthritis Essentials® is shown under Enrolment options and that the payment details are correct. Then click on the green Send payment via PayPal to process your payment. Note, there is no need to have a PayPal account, instead choose Pay with a credit or debit card. After your payment has been accepted you will have access to the Arthritis Essentials® online learning unit. CERTIFICATION Arthritis Essentials® (MSKINF001 Provide information and strategies for musculoskeletal conditions) is a core unit of competency within the nationally recognised 10168NAT Course in Management of Musculoskeletal Conditions. Anyone successfully completing Joint Movement Training (Part I) Arthritis Essentials® will be awarded a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
