Course Objectives
Periodontitis is a multifactorial disease caused by patho-gen oral microbiota and related to individual predispos-ing factor such as genetic susceptibility and negative life styles. Advanced cases may experience tooth migration, flaring of the frontal teeth and loss of occlusion. Aim of the course will be to discuss the different treatment op-tions when an interdisciplinary approach is needed, fo-cusing on the rationale for the orthodontics-restorative-periodontics interaction (biology, timing, clinical aspects). The regenerative therapy of infrabony defects adjacent to migrated teeth will be deeply discussed. Gingival re-cessions and lack of attached gingiva are indications to periodontal plastic surgery. Connective tissue graft is the gold standard for root coverage. Recent researches devel-oped tridimensional matrix as alternatives to CTG in or-der to limit morbidity. The clinical indications to CTG will be discussed, along with the most modern surgical tech-niques. Moreover, the indications to the use of collagen matrix, its characteristics and its clinical management will be focused.
