Dear Members and Friends of NEAA and NEINEA,

Here it is! The Publicity Book for the NEAA and NEINEA SpecialtyWeek has arrived with the information about all of the activitiesavailable during the week of June 11-18, a handy A to Z referenceat your fingertips.

In the intervening months since it was announced that NEINEAand NEAA would join forces to put on the specialty week in 2016,the two show committees have been hard at work. Several inno-vative ideas for merchandise, trophies, activities, and educationalopportunities are being implemented for this year’s extravaganza. We have entertained ideas from members and are pleased to beable to include many of these initiatives. Keep an eye out for thenew things described in this book as well as some returning ideasand trusted old-friends.

We have taken the old saying about “All Work and No Play” toheart and have several social opportunities available. There willbe two luscious banquets, a Luau (Yes, bring your grass skirtsand ugly Hawaiian shirts. Coconuts are optional!), a rare opportu-nity to get up close and personal with an authentic Viking vessel, and, of course, vendors galore.

We are extremely excited to share this week with members andfriends of our great grey dogs and look forward to our gatheringat Pheasant Run Resort from June 11 – 18. The event representsNEAA’s 26th National Specialty and NEINEA’s 41st Regional Specialty. Neither club could have reached these milestones with-out your support.

Now, as Jake and Elkwood, the two Chicago Style hot dogs, would say, “Get on Board… join the Waggin’ Train to Illinois!”

Videos for National

For those of you who have aspirations to be a play-by-play announcer, or wouldlike the best seat in the house at the National, we need your help. We havehired the same person from the 2006 and 2008 Nationals to produce the DVD’sfor the 2016 National. Those of you who purchased them know that we hadclub members who narrated by giving the dog’s name, and other information. We left it up to the narrator as to how much they wanted to say.

We would like to line up some narrators now, before the actual start of the show, and NEAA is offering anyone who volunteers 10% off on their DVD order.Following are the categories – feel free to volunteer for more than one:

Obedience, Rally, Agility, Futurity/Maturity, Puppy Sweeps, Veteran Sweeps,Rescue Parade, Jr. Show, Dogs, Bitches, Best of Breed

Catalog Advertising

Our catalog for the 2016 National Specialty will be a spiral boundbook. Ads will be submitted to Claudia Holst with payment forreview and then forwarded on to Show Secretary Barb Budny.Following are “helpful hints” when submitting your ads:- Photographs and artwork are scanned separately from the copy and

then inserted into the publication for production (halftone and negativeswill not be accepted).- To avoid errors, please type all copy.- Due to space limitations, pedigrees will not be accepted.- Unless otherwise instructed, all photographs and artwork will be

cropped to the dog.- Good quality photographs on glossy paper are best. Do not attach

(tape, glue, or staple) photograph to page layout.- If you plan multiple ad pages, please identify each page with the

appropriate photograph that should be placed on the page.- Any holes, tears, creases, ink or pencil marks, clear or masking tape,

etc. over photographs, logos, or copy will show up on the final copy.- Gold, silver, light green, blue, and yellow colors do not reproduce

well. Dark colors (red, orange, etc.) will reproduce as solid black whenusing black and white.

For those who have mastered the latest technical breakthroughs, youmay take advantage of your computer skills and submit your ad asfollows:

Prepare copy in a word processing program and email file or forwardfile on a CD (no DVD’s) along with a printed copy. Submit your copy andphotograph as separate files.

Whenever possible submit your photographs as a .jpeg file. If you arepreparing the file by scanning, use 300 dpi or higher resolution. Toavoid the possibility of losing your prized photograph, use the .jpegoption to ensure photograph is not lost in the mail.

Catalog ads may be in color or black and white. NEAA and NEINEA reserves the right to reject any advertising and disclaims anresponsibility for accuracy of ad contents. PLEASE PUT AN ADDRESS LABEL ON EVERYTHING YOU WANT RETURNED TO YOU!

(Writing this biography is not requiredhowever, it is highly encouraged in honoring this very elite group of competitive senior Elkhounds.)

Along with that we are offering—at a discounted rate (see website for catalog advertising) the opportunity for you to put an ad in this booklet. These ads are tohonor your dogs who are either retired from showing and over the age of 7years,or deceased. These special priced ads are only for dogs who are not entered inVeteran Sweeps or any other classes at the show. All other ads will be submittedfor the regular catalog.

If you wish for your dog to appear on the cover of the Veterans’ Booklet, you canhave this honor for $100.00. If you want your dog to appear on the inside front, inside back or back cover, you may do so for $70.00 per ad. These ads will be accepted on a first check received basis – send a note to Claudia, along with yourcheck, and tell her where you want the ad placed. Once again, see page 11 or thewebsite section on Catalog Advertising for submitting your ad.

You will not have to order a Veterans’ Booklet – if you order a catalog, you will automatically get the booklet.
