Dear Friends,Girls on the Run Utah is on a mission to empower girls and give them the tools they need to become leaders. Our nonprofit provides a fun, supportive and positive place to grow both mentally and physically.
Our 2019 program will run from March 11 – June 1, 2019 and reach more than 1,900 girls (ages 8-14) on 150 teams in 10 Utah counties. In addition, 500 volunteer coaches will mentor our girls, contributing over 38,000 volunteer hours. The 3-month program culminates with a celebratory 5K event on June 1, 2019 at Sugar House Park. This is a truly an inspirational event, with more than 6,000 runners and spectators coming together to support the girls’ hard work.
2019 is shaping up to be a great year — we are planning to expand our Summer Camp and we are launching our first-ever 5K event in Utah County on May 18, 2019 at Lakeside Sports Park in Orem.
Our local girls need your support. As the demand for our program increases, so do our funding needs. We never turn a girl away because of inability to pay for the program. 50% of the girls in our program have a household income below the poverty level and depend on support from donors like you.
Join us as we strive to positively impact the lives of the girls right in our own backyard. Please unite with us in raising $650,000 to meet our 2019 scholarship and program needs.
We can’t run without you!
Heidi Moreton, Executive Director, Girls on the Run Utah

Girls on the Run Utah is a 12-week program for girls in 3rd–8th grades
Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula:
• Includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games
• Girls develop essential skills to help navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness
During the program the girls create and implement a community service project
The program culminates with two celebratory 5K events for all the particpants and their families:
• Utah County 5K – Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Lakeside Sports Park in Orem (Serves 1 county, estimated attendance 300 people)
• Salt Lake Area 5K – Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Sugar House Park (Serves 9 counties, estimated attendance 6,000 people)
We are inspiring girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one-of-a-kind
