Randy won more games with Seattle than

he did with any other team, including the

first no-hitter (right) in franchise history.

No pitcher ever scared left-handed hitters

out of the lineup and sent them scurrying, like

mice to their holes, the way he did.

    -Tom Verducci, Sports Illustrated writer

    Hes one of th

    guys you want on

    team, because you

    if there was a stre

    that had to be bro

    or kept going, he w

the guy you wanteon the mound.

    -Ken Griffey Jr.

    against the Detroit Tigers.

two pitchers to have ever won the Cy Young award in four

consecutive seasons (1999-2002) Won his 300th career game June 4, 2009 against the

Washington Nationals. Became just the 18th pitcher during

the modern era (since 1901) to win 300 games.

Nolan Ryan), including a Mariners single-season record of

    ballparks.

Named co-MVP of the 2001 World Series with Arizona, going

    3-0 with a 1.04 ERA.

I focused on being the best I could be,

not better than others, but the best I could

be. That meant having to dig a little deeper

when I was tired, being able to throw 130 or

    140 pitches, beinga warrior.

    -Randy Johnson

He is the number one dominating pitcher in baseball. I dont

even know whos number two. Ive never seen anybody like him.

I look at those things now and I really just kind of

smile. I am able to reflect more now that my career is

over, and open up about more of those kinds of things.

Back then, I think when I started having success I

didnt want to start talking about my success because

I didnt want to get too far ahead of myself. I just

wanted to stay focused on the task at hand.

Randy Johnson, on his memories as a b allplayer

Randy was co-MVP of the 2001

World Series, but his greatest joy

    was sharing success with his

    family, including his 300th win.

    With SeattleMariners

    I miss game day quite

a bit. I miss the preparation

that I would put into leading

up to the game that I would

    pitch, whether it was

    working out in the weight

    room, sitting down with my

    catcher and going over a

game plan, adjusting thatgame plan throughout the

course of the game that I was

    actually pitching, just that

    whole day. I miss that.
