TRANSCRIPT
This course is designed by nurses for nurses, but the topics and content will benefit all clinical healthcare professionals who work with children and families of children who are terminally ill or at the end of life.
TARGET AUDIENCES
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONNurses spend more time with patients and families facing the end of life than any other health professionals. Nurses are intimately involved in all aspects of end-of-life care and address the myriad needs facing individuals at this time. Expert nursing care has the potential to greatly reduce the burden and distress for this population and the ability to offer support for the many physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Project is a national end-of-life educational program administered by City of Hope and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) designed to enhance palliative care in nursing. Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is pleased to offer this pediatric- focused ELNEC workshop. The two-day program will provide a comprehensive look at pediatric end-of-life care. (See workshop schedule for topics.)
