ZIEGLER PAPIER

Ziegler Papier operates one paper machine, based in Grellingen, Switzerland. The net sales

production is 70,000 t/yr. During the last 15 years, Ziegler Papier invested approximately CHF 100

million to increase the capacity by 60% and to increase productivity and quality. The saleable

production is strongly linked to the production portfolio. The specific energy consumption was reduced

by 25% [500kWh/t], the specific water consumption by 50% [5l/kg].

The paper machine was installed by Beloit in 1963, the machine being enhanced in 1991, 1995, 1996,

1997, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2009, 2011 and is at present state-of-the-art. Today it includes a dilution head

box (round distributer), top wire, extended nip press, film press, two nip soft calender. The wire width

is 3,700 mm, the paper width at the pope is 3,350 mm. The production speed varies between 150

m/min up to 800 m/min depending on the base weight. The base weight produced starts with 40 gsm

and ends with 250 gsm. Maximum net production on the pope was 70,500 tons. The paper machine is

controlled by an ABB MCC and PCS from ABB. The stock suspension control system is Voith.

Motor management is by a Selma control (year 1995), which operates the single drives / individual

drives (Sami 32/200/315). Further modification /extension in 1998 and 2004.The control system (PLS)

has been installed in 2010 with an AC800M control.

Jagenberg Vari-Step 43, number 30.24072, 500 v, installed in 1988, rebuilt in 2005 and 2011,

maximum speed of 2,000 m/min, with 14 automatic adjustable slitters from Dienes, reel

diameter from 600 to 1,500 mm. Shaft unwind with generator , twin motors drives, and

shaftless rewind. Overhead crane for reel loading.

Sheeter for Folio sheeting

Synchro cross cutter from Bielomatik with maximum 1,600 mm reel width, 6 unwind stations,

paper size from 450 mm to 1,750 mm, capacity 27,000 tons/year.

Sheeter ream cutting

Synchro cross cutter from Bielomatik for small size paper sheets from 210 x 297 mm up to 340 x

460 mm with ream wrapping installed in 2005. The capacity of 1 shift is 2,500 tons/year.

Reject layboy, sheet counter and tabers.

Guillotines

2 guillotines Schneider Senator with automatic destacker and stacker installed in 2007, capacities

5 tons per shift each. Light guarding, air float tables, programmatic.

Wrapper Folio

Ream wrapping machine from Bielomatik for large size formats, 16 reams/min, installed in 1994,

rebuilt in 2007. The capacity of 1 shift is 10,000 tons/year. Manual ream fed machine, auto pallet

change over. Labeller.
