Credit for Concurrent Enrollment in Community College and City of Angels School Community colleges offer additional options for high school students to meet graduation requirements add an enriched curriculum and provide a smooth transition to college. Students interested in enrolling in community college courses while attending City of Angels School must follow the guidelines set forth below: You must complete a minimum of 20 credits (4 classes) each semester with your independent study teacher. You must have your college application approved and signed by your City of Angels counselor to ensure you are taking appropriate coursework. Your counselor will complete the section that lists the requested courses. You will only be allowed to enroll in the specific courses listed by your counselor. You or your teacher can contact the counseling office at San Julian if clarification is necessary. Only pre-approved courses will be transferred to your high school record. Your counselor has a course equivalency list. LAUSD will only grant credit for college course work if the college level course meets the content standards of the corresponding high school course; the course is necessary to meet a graduation requirement and the City of Angels Principal or designee grants permission for the student to earn high school credit for the course taken at the community college. You may take a maximum of 11 college units each semester. In order for a City of Angels student to receive high school credit for a college class, the class must be completed with a grade of an A, B, or C, You cannot receive high school credits for any courses taken on a Credit/No Credit basis.
