Background

Jodhpur, know also as the Blue City due to the blue-painted houses around the magnificent

Mehrangarh Fort, was founded in 1496 and has long been considered as one of the most Indias

most wonderful cities.

The Maharaja of Jodhpur, His Highness Gaj Singh II has been a committed supporter of polo for

many years making the polo season of Jodhpur one of the most recognised in the world.

The Royal Salute Maharaja of Jodhpur Golden Jubilee Cup is set amongst the imposing and

lavish Umaid Bhawan Palace and the majestic Mehrangarh Fort

The tournament culminates in The Maharaja of Jodhpurs New Years Eve procession at party at

the Mehrangarh Fort, set on a cliff top 500m, above the city of Jodhpur one of the most

spectacular and exclusive New Years Eve celebrations in the world.

Umaid Bhawan Palace

The Umaid Bhawan Palace is home to the Maharaja of Jodhpur and is one of the world's largest private

residences.

The palace has 347 rooms and today hosts 5 star facilities partly open to a limited number of visitors.

The palace is set on Chittar Hill, the highest point in Jodhpur.

The tournament runs from the 26th to the 30th of December, and culminates in the magnificent

New Years Eve celebrations, hosted by His Highness the Maharaja of Jodhpur

The Royal Salute Maharaja of Jodhpur Golden Jubilee Cup is executed at the highest standards

and brings to life a unique combination of contemporary luxury and regal tradition

The event has become a once in a life experience that leaves its VIP guests with unforgettable

memories of the tournament

The event was supported by a comprehensive PR plan leveraging media opportunity at a both

local and international level securing prestige coverage across lifestyle and polo press, online andbroadcast.

The exclusive, invitation-only tournament, is played across 4 days with 4 6 teams participating.

The tournament features the additional spectacle of a Marwari horses parade, a luxury vintage

cars parade, and in 2009 was marked by a fly past of 5 Mig jets of the Indian Air Force

Each night saw the His Highness The Maharaja of Jodhpur hosting exclusive private parties

including the tournament closing party at Umaid Bhawan Palace and a camel race in the desert of

Rajasthan

The polo ground hosted a myriad of dignitaries including the long-term ambassador of Royal

Salute, His Grace 13th Duke of Argyll, His Highness Maharaja of Jaipur Brigadier Bhawani Singh

and His Highness Maharaja Davait Singh of Sirohi and British Ambassador Sir Richard Stagg.

His Highness Gaj Singh II offers the ultimate tribute to all those involved by inviting guests to his

famous New Years Eve procession, which marks the close of Jodhpurs polo season each year

His Highness then hosts VIP guests in the most spectacular enclosure at the Mehrangarh Fort for

a lavish dinner followed by an extravagant party
