The City's contact centre operates 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year to log all
customer enquiries and complaints for all City services. It is equipped to record all calls. For each query
logged, you will get a reference number. Keep this number so that you can follow up your queries.
Joburg Connect is divided into two specialist units:
Care Connect (0860 56 28 74 or 0860-JOBURG) deals primarily with all City's general enquiries such
as billing, water, electricity, refuse, meter readings, Rea Vaya, Metrobus, and others. Upon receiving a
call from a citizen, Call Centre Agents will log a ticket detailing the problem or inquiry and forward it via
the internal network systems, through to the relevant service provider for acknowledgement and final
resolution. All calls are logged and a unique reference number is allocated to the ticket, which enables
the citizens to follow up on the progress being made to resolve their problem.

The City's Emergency Services Call Centre operates 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, 365-
days-a-year where appropriately qualified call centre agents take calls relating to all life threatening
emergencies and where dispatchers send out appropriate response vehicles i.e. ambulances, fire
engines, rescue vehicles and metro police.
