The MORU Network The Wellcome Trust-Mahidol University-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Programme conducts research on infectious diseases in tropical countries. The main focus of work is malaria, melioidosis, rickettsial diseases, leptospirosis, influenza, and maternal and childhood infections. The Programmes headquarters are based at the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) within the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. Research is conducted in Bangkok, on the Thai-Myanmar border, at hospitals in Udon Thani and Ubon Ratchathani, at Mahosot Hospital in Laos, at Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia, and at collaborative research sites throughout Asia and Africa. The Network has grown and evolved substantially over the past 30 years, and with this comes the need to increase our Core IT Infrastructure support. The role The main focus for this post is to support the MORU IT infrastructure in Bangkok which is spread out across five faculty buildings on the Mahidol University campus. The infrastructure is fully inter-connected and strives to utilize best practices and current technologies to deliver reliable enterprise IT solutions for the unit. integral part of the IT team but will also have the opportunity to take ownership of challenging projects that will see them work independently at times.
Responsibilities
Provide technical engineering support for solution delivery including: configuration, installation, documentation, testing, training, and general support across all IT solution offerings
Provide first tier support for all server and network infrastructure support issues
Provide second tier support in creating and maintaining Active Directory user accounts and group memberships, Exchange mailboxes, NTFS and SharePoint folder/file permissions, and group policy creation and management
Provide second tier support in monitoring data backups, anti-virus central management consoles, and monthly Windows updates/patches
Provide third tier end user technical support
Maintain server software and hardware warranty renewal inventories
Oversee Service Desk ticketing system usage in order in order to identify and implement procedural changes that will increase support efficiency
Oversee, following predefined standards and policies, workstation/laptop purchase and operating system image deployment
Create and maintain documentation for hosted services, hardware installations, hardware maintenance, and software installations/upgrades
Ensure IT policies, procedures, and change control processes are adhered to and contribute to ongoing improvement and revision of these policies
Stay up-to-date with relevant IT technologies, current security issues/exploits, and industry standard best practices
Performs other duties as assigned.
Selection criteria
Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
MCSE or MCSA (Microsoft certifications) preferred
Excellent verbal and written skills
Highly self-motivated and strong ability to work independently or with team members
Proven ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously and still meet deadlines
Must be a detail oriented person with exceptional time management and organizational skills
Must have proven analytical troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure
Must have proven experience with Microsoft server technologies (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group policies, NTFS/FSRM/ABE, NPS, WSUS, print server management, etc.)

Excellent understanding and proven experience with TCP/IP, IP routing, switch configuration, enterprise wireless systems, VLANs, firewall technologies, VPNs, and Internet/network security
Able to travel if required (to sub-units in the region)
Desirable selection criteria
Experience of enterprise backup and anti-virus software
Experience with scripting languages such as Powershell, visual basic, Windows command line batch
Experience with macOS (OS X) and Mac enterprise management software
Previous experience of working in SE Asia
