WELCOME ABOARD!
P A G E 2
Greetings!
Here’s wishing everyone a Happy and Prosperous 2013. We all should stop and take a minute to be
thankful and to show some expression of love - even if it’s mental love, send a happy thought to someone
- because right now, this second is all we actually have.
Our hearts are heavy with the many unthinkable realities of this past year that we, as a Nation, have en-
dured, and endured we have. Innocence is no longer taken for granted, kindness is no longer a staple of
our lives, doing the right thing is no longer the norm...but we must refuse to lower our expectations
because if we do, those unthinkable realities become our expected/accepted realities and we cannot do
that to ourselves.
We are a lucky people to live and love in
this wonderful place - The UNITED
States of American.
I hope your holiday was as BLESSED as
mine.
On behalf of the entire JLMI Senior Man-
agement Team, Thank You for your sup-
port and outstanding service, you con-
tinuously make us Proud.

Happy New Year!
Well, it’s a new year and there will be new obstacles and
adventures to endure. Last year we pulled together and
tackled the Rock Island Contract. We are still dealing with
a few hurdles, but for the most part everything is running as
well as expected as we continue to learn from this contract.
You never know what the future holds, but we at JLMI
have high hopes for a prosperous year. I want to thank
everyone for a great 2012 and an even better 2013!

Recruiting New Personnel
Over the years, we have found that the best source for recruiting new JLMI personnel, is recom-
mendations from our current workforce. Please take the time to look at our current job openings
on the JLMI web page under Employment and recommend anyone you believe would be a good
fit for the position. Even when we don’t have a current opening, we are always looking for re-
sumes for future job opportunities. Please recommend JLMI to your friends and acquaintan-
ces and ask them to submit a resume and/or fill out a JLMI application for employment.

It is a New Year and time to get healthy.
Here are a few simple, practical tips for keeping fit
and healthy, mind and body.
1. Water: Essential for hydrating the body to keep
systems running smoothly. Also, try a fat-
burning green tea.
2. Breakfast: Do Not Skip! Breakfast gives the much-
needed fuel and energy to get moving throughout
the day and empowers daily activities.
3. Meals and Snacks: Plan meals and snacks with
healthy foods. Portion size is vital.
4. Fish Oil: Daily supplement can help burn up to an
additional 400 calories and also aid in preventing
the hardening of arteries that can lead to heart
disease.
5. Sleep: 7 to 8 hours of sleep is another necessity for
keeping fit and healthy. This is the time that
your body heals and prepares itself.
6. Emotional Fitness: Keeping your mind healthy is
just as important as physical fitness; this should
not be neglected.
7. Exercise: Exercise should be a part of your daily
life. It is vital in keeping your heart strong and
healthy. Walking does not cost a thing!

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer in women. Here are some unsettling facts: 1. Heart disease causes 1
in 3 women’s deaths each year, killing ap-proximately one woman every minute.
2. 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease.
3. Since 1984, more women than men have died each year from heart disease and the gap between men and women’s survival con-tinues to widen.
4. The symptoms of heart disease can be differ-ent in women vs. men, and are often misun-derstood.
5. While 1 in 31 Ameri-can women die from breast cancer each year, 1 in 3 die of heart disease.

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a great Christmas and is ready for an excit-
ing 2013. As many of you know, JLMI is a strong Community Advocate and a mem-
ber on several committees in the community and volunteers time for many different
events. This year, we are proud to announce that our very own President/CEO has be-
come the newest member (first female ever) on the Industrial Development Authority
for Prince George County, VA. This position serves a four-year term. ―I am looking
forward to serving on the IDA as well as meeting new business owners in the commu-
nity‖, LaVern stated. This is not only an exciting opportunity for our CEO/President
but for JLMI as a company.
