Which subjects to choose?

Unsure about JLC, the UK or A-levels? Explore the JLC website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. Feel free to write to us and our current or former students with questions. You can also visit our college or meet us in your home country. JLC offers a two-week A-level Taster Course for students who would like to experience college life before committing to the two-year programme. Not yet applied to JLC? Applications for 2012 entry onto the A-level programme are still being accepted. Places are limited so register your interest immediately. If you need the help of an education

agent we can recommend a trusted partner in your city. Waiting for news about your application? Please check that you have sent a completed application form and supporting documents. If you have we will be in touch soon. Hold a conditional offer? Contact us when you have met the conditions of the JLC offer, e.g. IELTS result, and we will inform you about how to proceed. Hold an unconditional offer? Congratulations! Secure your place by sending a deposit and we will then issue a CAS in preparation for applying for a UK student visa. See you in September!

With more than 42 different A-level subjects to choose from at JLC, making a decision about which courses to take can be confusing. Why not ask yourself the following questions to help make your mind up:

1. What are you good at [and get high grades in at school]?

2. What do you enjoy? 3. What do you want to

study at university?

4. Which career would you prefer?

Students at JLC normally choose a combination of 4 A-level subjects and there is plenty of help to ensure you follow the most successful path. See our online A-Z courses list for more detailed information www.leggott.ac.uk

A-level or Foundation programme: you decide PART 1: BENEFITS OF THE A-LEVEL COURSE

Triumph for John Leggott College Oxford and Cambridge University applicants

T en John Leggott College students are celebrating this week

having been recognised by Oxford and Cambridge Universities for being among the best in the country and offered a place or pooled for 2012 entry.

Half of the successful learners belong to the thriving international student community at the College.

Interviews at the world-class Oxford and Cambridge Universities are incredibly rigorous and the competition for places is huge. This year a record 11 John Leggott College international students were interviewed.

The College offers an Oxbridge Preparation Programme for ambitious students who are hoping to progress to these prestigious universities.

This specialized programme of events and activities begins during the first year of the A-level course and is offered to all students.

University counsellors at JLC have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Chief advisor Ray Perry is approaching 40 years’ service at the College and over the years he has helped thousands of students progress to good universities.

International Centre Manager Maggie Williamson also plays a key role in the application process.

“Students come to the international centre for help with UCAS applications, personal statements and, in recent years, references for applications to overseas universities. We give one-to-one help and advice to

international students to ensure their successful progression after completing their A-levels with us,” explained Maggie.

“It’s fabulous news that our students have been accepted by Oxford and Cambridge Universities once again. I’m delighted!”

Progression to top UK universities has been consistently successful over the past 15 years that the College has been accepting international students. In the last three years alone, 6 students have progressed to Oxford and Cambridge Universities, 20 to Imperial College London, 17 to UCL, 5 to London School of Economics, 9 to Warwick and 6 to Durham University.
