EXPERIMENT PH-1TITLE Basic Electropneumatic Circuit

DURATION 2 HOURSPAGE 10F3

1.0 Experiment outcomes

At the end of the lab session students should be able:

1.1 Design Basic Electropneumatic circuit.1.2 Apply and demonstrate the electropneumatic circuit on the experimental board

2.0 Introduction / theory

Pneumatics deals the use of compressed air. Most commonly, compressed air is used to do mechanicalwork – that is to produce motion and to generate forces. Pneumatic drives have the task of convertingthe energy stored in compressed air into motion.Cylinders are most commonly used for pneumatic drives. They are characterized by robust construction,a large range of types, simple installation and favorable price/performance. As a result of these benefits, pneumatics is used in a wide range of applications.

Both pneumatic and electropneumatic controllers have a pneumatic power section. The signal controlsection varies according to type.In an electro-pneumatic control the signal control section is made up of a electrical components, forexample with electrical input buttons, proximity switches, relays, or a programmable logic controller.

4.1 Pressurised air lines that become detached can cause accidents.Switch off pressure immediately!

4.2 First connect all tubing and secure before switching on the compressed air.4.3 Cylinders may advance or retract as soon as the compressed air is switched on.4.4 Do not exceed the permissible working pressure (see data sheets).4.5 Use only low voltages of 24 V4.6 Switch off the air and voltage supply before disconnecting the circuit.

TITLE Basic Electropneumatic Circuit

DURATION 2 HOURSPAGE 2 0F3

5.0 Procedures / Problem definition

Problem 1 :

Push Button 1 will control the movement of extend cylinder A and cylinder 6. Cylinder A willretract with the help of spring, meanwhile push button 2 will control the movement of retractcylinder B. Push Button 3 will start up the lamp 1 &4andalsothebuzzer.

Problem 2:

Push button 1 will control the movement of cylinder A to extend and it will retract with the help of springand also will start up lamp no 2 and the buzzer after switch on. Push button no 2 will control the extendof cylinder B , lamp 4 will ON and lamp 3 will be OFF when push button 2 is switch on. Push button 3 willcontrol the retract of cylinder B.
