Work on the Jigsaw build project at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital is well underway with first phase preparation work starting in October. This is the first step in providing brand new purpose-built cancer and blood disorder and women’s health facilities for local patients. This two floor building, which will be built at the rear of the hospital between the Eye Unit and the Derwent Suite (Orthopaedics), will see new facilities for oncology and haematology patients on one floor while the women’s health unit will occupy the other. It will be of huge benefit to the entire community for years to come. The Jigsaw building is funded through donations and fundraising from two Jigsaw appeals; cancer and blood disorders and women’s health, plus NHS investment. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions you may have. January 2014 - Arts User Group will be coordinated to start discussions on the look and feel of the interior of the building. Building begins

Phase 3 The second half of the new car park will open. This is estimated to be finished by the end of December 2013 and will lead to the closure of the current car park.

Phase 4Jigsaw centre building works will start at the beginning of January 2014 and should be complete by 1 March 2015.

The new Jigsaw building will have:

• welcoming atrium

• better light, colour and ambience

• easier space to move around

• more rooms: complementary therapies, counselling, etc.

• patient friendly treatment areas

• isolated rooms for patients who need privacy

• access to outdoor space

Phase 2Brymor Contractors will set up their site adjacent to the Jigsaw building site before Christmas. This will be their headquarters from 2 January 2014. Brymor will also set up the site perimeter, including works to dig up and divert buried pipe, cable and drains which would otherwise be below the new Jigsaw building.

Phase 1A new car park will be built to replace the current car park where the Jigsaw building will be constructed. The new car park will be carried out in two stages with the first now completed.

The Jigsaw build project will be carried out in four phases, starting with some preparation work before construction of the actual building can begin. Patients should be enjoying the new facilities by 1 March 2015.
