Fall Fundraiser Update

The students had raised $1,210 so far for our school. Be sure to keep an eye on the

graph in the cafeteria as donations come in! The classes that are in the lead (for

priority seating for our school wide Circus Show) are as follows: KGillespie; 1

Fischer; 2Bogard; 3McVay; 4Devore.

33 students have earned their very own clown nose by bringing in a donation of

any amount.

26 students have earned their very own JF Burns water bottle by bringing in

donations totaling $25 or more.

21 students have earned a ticket to the bonus assembly with Mojo Circus where

they will learn their very own circus trick! These students have reached our top

prize by bringing in donations of $50 or more.

Remember to return donations to school in an envelope marked with your childs name/grade/teachers

name. Clearly marking the donations will ensure they receive credit for the appropriate prize(s). Checks

should be made payable to JF Burns PTO. Donations need to be received byFriday September 19th.

Here are some ideas of how your students can earn extra money for this fundraiser:

Clean their rooms/toy rooms. Find toys, clothes, shoes, old sports equipment

that they can take to a resale shop.

Choose community service type work that they can earn some money for.

Host an art show for family/friends. Students can sell original works of art.

Host a lemonade stand/bake sale

Donate money they receive for doing household chores. Ask friends/family members for small donations to help students reach their

personal goals. See sample letter/email below!

Its time for my schools annual fall fundraiser! Rather than creating theillusion of value by selling you stuff

you don't need, we're asking you to create a few Magic Moments around school by directly contributing to

some of our most important educational programs.This allows my school to keep 100% of the profits! The

money is used to bring nearly 30 in-school programs to my school this year. My teachers have helped picked

these programs to enhance what they are teaching me in class. My classmates and I will be rewarded with

assembly featuring Circus Mojo to celebrate doing our best during this fundraiser. My personal goal is to raise

$50 so I can receive different prizes AND get to attend a bonus workshop with the Circus Mojo crew where I will

get to learn my very own circus trick. Will you consider helping me reach my goal? Any amount you give will

be greatly appreciated.

JFB PTO at Work for Our Kids!

This is why we raise funds!

The schedule for in-school enrichment programs has just been finalized and we have lots of great things to

bring to the students this year. You can check out acomprehensive list here.JFB PTO is offering a total of 22

in-school enrichment programs for the 2014-2015 school year! These fun, hands-on learning opportunities are

chosen by our wonderful teachers and administrators to enhance what the children are already learning in

their classrooms. These programs are provided to JFB students at no cost. By bringing programs to the

students instead of taking the students to the programs, we are able to save thousands of dollars on

transportation costs each year and minimize time spent away from school. These savings mean that we can

bring even MORE great things to JFB! Thank you for participating in our fundraising efforts to help provide

We have some winners!

class which had an 86% participation

rate! They have won a classroom

popcorn party for having the highest

percentage of membership forms

turned in by 9/5. Congratulations also

PTO Birthday Book Celebrations

The PTO Birthday Book Program is a unique opportunity to

celebrate your childs birthday by donating a book to our

library. On the day of the celebration, participating children will

be invited to the library where they will choose a book from a

selection of library-bound quality books. Each child will inscribe

the book and with parental permission have a small

photograph taken to be placed inside the book. They will then

receive a bookmark party favor and a small treat to take

home. After enjoying the book for a few weeks, it is returned

and becomes part of the J.F. Burns Library collection. Last year

this program donated over 200 books to the J.F. Burns Library!

Look for an invitation to come home during the month of your

childs birthday or half birthday for the Birthday Book Celebration. The celebrations will typically be on the 3rd

Friday of the month from 9-10 am. Tentative dates for this years celebrations are listed below:

Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Dec. 12 (Dec./June), Jan. 23 (Jan./July), Feb. 13 (Feb./Aug.), Mar. 20, Apr. 17, May15. Questions? Please contact PTO ChairpersonErin Bidwell

Help Wanted

Are you interested in becoming more involved with your childs school this year? We

have many different ways you can help out, ranging from clipping the Box Tops from

your own food packaging, to coordinating one of our many after-school enrichment

programs, to donating an item for Teacher Appreciation, to filling an open spot on

our JFB PTO Governing Board. Some projects are quick, one-time opportunities while others have a longer

One of our biggest tasks at the

beginning of each school year is to

pass a budget to sustain our programs

and projects. The2014-2015 budget

was proposed at the September

meeting and is available for your review. If you have questions about the budget, pleaseemailus as soon as

possible. We will hold a vote to pass the budget at the October 7 meeting. For a roster of Governing Board

Pink Ribbon Girls

Mark your calendars! The fourth annual Kings

Friday Night Pink Game is scheduled for Friday,

September 26, 2014. This annual event supports

Pink Ribbon Girlswhich is a local organization. Their

mission is to help ease the minds of individuals and

families affected by breast cancer. They offer free

healthy meals, housekeeping, transportation and

peer support. This annual event is a great way fortwo communities to come together to honor all

who have been impacted by this disease!

To order a t-shirt, please fill outthis order formand return it to your teacher no later than Fri., Sept. 12th.

T-shirts will be delivered to students the week of September 19th. Shirts will be PINK and they are $10 each.
