Jesus— The Humble Man —

Be loving and humble!

Father, please help Me to be a good

representation of You.

That might help them

believe that I’m God’s Son.

Is that wise, Father?

Maybe I should make a pile of gold appear.

God wanted to show mankind how much He valued humility and the lowly of heart, so He allowed His own Son to be born in a stable. Jesus’ humility toward others is a good example of how we should behave toward others, too.

Thank You, Father, for showing Me a better way to manifest Your Spirit.

As a man, there were probably times when Jesus didn’t always feel like being humble or caring.

But as the Son of God, each time He looked to His Father, the Father taught Him and led Him and showed Him what to do and say.

In James 4:6 we read, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (ESV), and Proverbs 6:16–17 tells us that God hates a prideful attitude.

Jesus could not merely preach humility and love, it was important for Him to live it as well.

It is also written: “Do not put the

Lord your God to the test.”2

Hee, hee! I hope He jumps! That would be so proud of

Him!

If you are the Son of God, throw

yourself down. For it is written: “He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot

against a stone.”1

Jesus had to be the living Word to the people— humble and reflecting

the spirit of love

and walking in humility, simplicity, and lowliness

of mind.

The Bible tells us that Jesus was tempted in all points just as we are—including pride.

This was a point that Satan would have delighted to see Jesus fall in, since it was the cause of his own downfall.

It would have been very easy for Jesus to be lifted up in pride. After all, He was the Son of God. Though He was weak in the flesh, He was strong in the spirit.

In order to truly walk in humility, Jesus had to continually be on guard to not fall into pride.

Jesus is coming!

I can walk!

I can see!

I can hear! I’m

healed!

Jesus is so amazing!

Jesus should be king!

Jesus is the greatest prophet there

ever was!

I’ll leave. They don’t understand.Let’s force

Jesus to be our king.

Jesus’ hand, this could have easily gone to His head. He could have thought that it was in His flesh that He was able to do such things.

That day when the 5,000 gathered and Jesus fed them from the few loaves and fishes,

the praise of the people could have caused Jesus to be lifted up in pride, had He not resisted the temptation.

And as news of Jesus spread abroad, as the crowds began to gather around Jesus everywhere He went, and as His Father wrought great miracles and mighty signs and wonders by

Father, I thank you that you

have heard me.3

“I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.”4

In whose name do you do miracles?

Who sent you?

As He worked miracle after miracle He was probably frequently tested on whether He would let it go to His head or He would give His Father the glory and honor that was His due, choosing to walk in humility.

When the learned men of the world questioned Jesus, Jesus told them,

Jesus continually pointed to God, and gave Him all the honor and glory.

However, we see that in all Jesus did He was always acknowledging His Father, and giving Him the credit.
