Allen 34, Plano West 10: Sam Hunter rushed for 121 yards, including a pair of third-quarter touchdowns, as Allen (10-0, 7-0 in District 9-6A) shook off a sluggish first half to beat Plano West, 34-10, at Clark Stadium. Allen, ranked No. 3 in the area, led only 20-10 after a first half that included two turnovers and seven penalties totaling 50 yards. Plano West (1-9, 1-6), which just last week ended a 34-game losing streak extending from 2016, tied the score at 7-7 late in the first quarter on Wyatt Johnson’s leaping, 28-yard touchdown reception from Danny Davis. Raylen Sharpe extended Allen’s lead to 20-7 with a 21-yard touchdown run and a 35-yard touchdown pass to Yurias Hill. But Jevon Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff 61 yards to set up a 32-yard Randy Bond field goal as time expired in the first half.

McKinney 10, McKinney Boyd 7: Seth Cox booted a 24-yard field goal with 1:40 left in the game, giving McKinney a 10-7 victory over McKinney Boyd and earning a No. 2 seed in the 6A Division II playoffs. McKinney defensive back Adrian Shepherd preserved the win by intercepting a desperation pass near the goal line with five seconds remaining in the contest. Defenses for both teams controlled most of the game, making key stops on third and fourth downs, creating timely turnovers and a blocked field goal by each team. Boyd (3-7, 2-5 District 9-6A) got on the board first with Ja Tyler Shaw’s 75 yard scoring run in the second quarter, but a stingy McKinney defense held Boyd to less then 200 yards of offense the rest of the game. McKinney’s Isaiah Wallace took the second half kickoff and returned it to Boyd’s 47 yard line, setting up a short drive capped off by RJ Carver’s six yard run that tied the game. Both teams traded possessions until McKinney’s (6-4, 4-3) final drive. Carver led the McKinney offense with 88 rushing yards while quarterback Sampson Nazarko threw for 102 yards, connecting four times with Wallace. Boyd quarterback Carter Whitefield finished with 131 passing yards and Shaw totaled 97 yards on the ground.

Prosper 58, Plano 27: J.T. Lane rushed for a season-high 171 yards and four touchdowns while Jackson Berry accounted for 238 total yards and three touchdowns as Prosper ended Plano’s season with a one-sided District 9-6A victory Friday at Children’s Health Stadium at Prosper ISD. Prosper (8-2, 5-2) clinched 9-6A’s second seed in the Class 6A Division I playoffs. Plano (5-5, 3-4) ended its season with a three-game losing streak and does not qualify for the playoffs for the fourth time in five years. Prosper, ranked No. 18 in The Dallas Morning News’ 6A area poll, scored 34 points in the second quarter - including three touchdowns from Lane - to take a 41-7 lead. Lane ran it in from two yards to extend Prosper’s lead to 14-0 with 10:31 left in the frame, capping a 77-yard drive that included that included a 25-yard pass from Berry to Hayden Metcalf. Lane also had scoring runs of 24 and 9 yards in the quarter. A bad snap on a Plano punt attempt led to a 37-yard loss and set up a 12-yard touchdown pass from Berry to Cameron Harpole to give Prosper a 28-0 lead with 6:21 left in the first half. Berry passed for 216 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, including a five-yard lob to Jake Majors - a University of Texas commit and standout offensive tackle who lined up as a tight end - to open scoring with 5:09 left in the first quarter. Berry also had a three-yard touchdown run to extend Prosper’s lead to 48-13 with 5:57 left in the third quarter. It was the most points Prosper had scored since a 62-21 win over Carrollton Creekview on Nov. 2, 2017.Jordan Miles and Tate Nichols had a forced fumble apiece for Prosper while James Eckrote and Cole Gilliland had a fumble recovery each.Tylan Hines rushed for 185 yards on 15 carries for Plano with touchdown runs of 25 and 42 yards. It was the most points Plano allowed in a game since a 65-0 loss to Allen on Sept. 18, 2015.

Lakeview Centennial Falls to Naaman Forest in Regular Season Finale: Garland Naaman Forest overcame a 20-7 deficit and rallied to defeat Garland Lakeview Centennial, 42-27 to clinch a playoff spot at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.Naaman Forest (4-6, 4-3) took a 21-20 lead early in the third quarter when Bennett outran everyone to the edge then cut upfield for a 14-yard touchdown run. Naaman Forest would never relinquish the lead from that moment on. Lakeview Centennial (6-4, 4-3) had a difficult time finding their offensive rhythm in the second half. Five-star running back Camar Wheaton was held to just 123 yards rushing and was held to just under four yard per carry, far below his average. Despite the loss, Lakeview Centennial also clinched a playoff spot by virtue of Rowlett’s loss to Sachse. Lakeview beat Rowlett in district play to win that tiebreaker and eliminate Rowlett from playoff contention.

Wheaton Leading Lakeview Centennial Offense: Junior running back Camar Wheaton has 166 rushes this year for 1,038 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, cementing himself as a top recruit for the Class of 2021 while ranking 13th in the Metroplex. Wheaton is currently ranked fifth in the nation among the Class of 2021 recruits, is the No. 2 recruit in Texas and the top-ranked junior running back in the nation. Wheaton enters Friday’s game 68 yards away from matching last year’s total, a campaign in which saw the running back score 14 touchdowns on 1,106 yards. Throughout his three-year career, Wheaton has 3,024 yards and 40 touchdowns to his credit.

Playoff History: The Patriots return to the playoffs after narrowly missing the postseason last season with a 3-4 league record. Head coach Kendall Miller enters Friday’s game with a 31-40 record, although Lakeview Centennial has finished at or above .500 in four of the last five seasons. The Patriots secured an 8-4 record in 2016 that resulted in an area round berth. That season featured Lakeview Centennial’s last playoff victory, a 55-27 win over Lake Highlands.

BI-DISTRICT ROUND • VS LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL • NOV. 8, 2019

Coach Hickman enters his ninth season at the helm for the Rangers, and his 15th year overall with the Jesuit Dallas football program. Born and raised in Houston, Hickman played college football at Texas Christian University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.

Hickman begins the 2019 season with a 61-33 record as the Jesuit Dallas head coach with a 43-13 mark against district foes. Jesuit has captured six UIL Bi-District Championships and two UIL District 9-6A titles under Hickman’s leadership.

Last season, Jesuit Dallas faced the most difficult strength of schedule in Texas according to MaxPreps. Although Jesuit fell short of the postseason, Hickman saw two members of the Jesuit

offensive line, Branson Hickman ’20 and Wyatt Hummel ’19, earn all-district first team honors.

In 2017, the Rangers clinched their sixth bi-district title with a 79-55 win over Lakeview Centennial. The win set a new scoring record while ushering the program to its seventh area round appearance in program history. Hickman coached three all-state selections in Fletcher Rosenbleeth ’18, Parker Towns ’18 and E.J. Smith ’20 en route to a 7-1 record in district play. Smith additionally earned MaxPreps Sophomore All-American and Dallas Morning News Newcomer of the Year honors to conclude an outstanding season.

A 7-0 run through UIL District 9-6A awarded Jesuit Dallas its second consecutive district championship in 2016. Key home wins over Coppell (41-10) and Skyline (53-12) set the tone as the Rangers improved their district winning streak to 15 games dating back to 2014. In 2015, Hickman led the Rangers to their first district title since 2004 in a season highlighted by a 24-21 win over Skyline on Oct. 2 that snapped the Raiders’ 49-game district winning streak.

At TCU, Hickman was an All-Southwest Conference Team selection at offensive tackle. He earned the Most Conscientious Award during his senior season, helping TCU clinch a share of the SWC Championship with a 7-4 record and play in the 1994 Independence Bowl. Hickman first arrived at Jesuit in 2001, coaching the offensive line while serving as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. Hickman returned to Jesuit in 2010, becoming the ninth head coach in program history.

Coach Hickman has been married to his wife, Amy, for 20 years. They live in McKinney with their son, Branson, who is a senior at Jesuit Dallas and recent SMU commit, and their 12-year old daughter, Avery. The Hickmans are members of Saint Jude’s Catholic Community in Allen.
