PROFILE
As a driven and independent individual, I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities. I have always had a creative edge and have incorporated this through my studies. Having completed my degree in Textile Design- Retail Management at BCU, I have learnt relevant Research and Design skills, all of which have helped me achieve a
varied and educated insight around the subject.HHaving completed my studies, I am now looking to widen my knowledge with experience
and would welcome the opportunity to work within the industry.
EMPLOYMENT
BARISTA • COSTA COFFE • 2013 – CURRENTDuring my time at Costa Coffee I have developed a number of transferable skills including; Increased condence, communication, teamwork and leadership. Helping to train new
members of staff has improved my management skills. I could introduce my own systems that I had found successful but nevertheless take constructive criticism.
I also had the abili I also had the ability to read situations and understand customer psychology in order to proactively choose which selling style was most appropriate, I believe this has given me an
insight to how to approach different situations/requirements. Working in a fast pace environment has shown me how to multi-task and how to work calmly
under pressure. I have enjoyed interacting with new people on a daily basis. This role has taught me responsibility, resilience and time management, all of which have
been vital in developing the transferable skills I use on an everyday basis.
WWARD CATERER • NHS (QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL) • 2016 – 2018Having worked at Costa Coffee for a considerable amount of time, I decided it would be benecial to gain further experience within a different setting. I managed both jobs for
several months, differentiating between diverse environments and learning new social and organisational skills.
WWorking as a Ward Caterer for the NHS consisted of a four-hour shift in which I had to be organised to ensure that everything ran smoothly and to schedule. Rather than working in a team I was responsible for managing my own time and shift structure. I must make sure any mistakes not made on my behalf are corrected and that I communicate successfully with
other staff members. This role taught me self-management, organization skills and to work to strict deadlines.
INTERESTS
I consider myself hardworking and determined in anything that I do. So, apart from focussing on my job and university, I like to make sure I live a healthy lifestyle. Having meal plans and
scheduling time for the gym helps me keep organised, and by exercising I can maintain a driven attitude and high energy levels.

EDUCATION
TEXTILE DESIGN- RETAIL MANAGEMENT • 2016- 2018 • BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITYThroughout my degree, I have learnt key aspects of Textiles Design such as, Surface
Pattern, Embroidery and Constructed textiles. AAs my studies progressed, I was able to gather a basic knowledge of key techniques used in each pathway and where they can be applied. During the second year of studies, I
specialised in Printed Textiles learning how to use colour, texture and placement to create attractive and successful samples. I Chose to study Retail Management during my nal year, there were greater opportunities to use digital programs in this pathway, which
developed and enhanced my current knowledge.I I found that my skills ourished especially within CAD and Trend research. I have a passion for presentation and detail within any work I create or edit, the Retail pathway allowed me
to follow through with this digitally. As well as learning new programs quickly and effectively, I was able to use the most appropriate program or tool for a brief, alongside
my new understanding within Visual Merchandising, Buying & Marketing and Researching.
DDuring my placement month at University I worked in Designers Guild, London for seven days, along with All in Design for the remaining amount of time. My time in Designers
Guild gave me an insight to how an Interior Retail Store works. Most of my duties included organising stock to create an easier process for employees when fetching
samples for customers. Collection books were also checked through the system to be updated for any that no longer exist within store. All in Design is a graphic design
company in which most of my time was spent shadowing employees and gathering a knknowledge of how a small business runs administratively. Towards the end of my
experience I learnt how to use InDesign and created small adverts for the local town.
