Jessica Milanokis Counselor Letter of Recommendation Jessica Milanokis is a warm, considerate, and gentle young woman. She is personable,

trustworthy, and has good values. She has an easy-going nature paired with a lot of charm and sophistication. Jessica is sensitive and caring. She is well liked and respected by all in the school community, students and teachers alike.

Before Jessica was born, her mother and father made the decision to move their lives to America for her to go to school and eventually attend an American university. The Milanokis family left behind their entire extend family, which is considered the most important support network in the Greek culture. As a result of this distance, Jessica’s family is close knit and of sound character. Amidst the American culture, the Milanokis family has maintained its Greek ties and has held to their true cultural values. They attend a local Greek Orthodox Church where Jessica participates in the annual “Greek Olympics” event and several annual charity drives sponsored by the church. The family speaks Greek at home so Jessica is completely bilingual. She will be the first person in her family to go to college and her parents are very supportive and proud that their daughter is going to put an exclamation point on their dream that began 17 years ago.

Jessica is a strong and successful student in a powerful academic setting. Natural curiosity, a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to accomplish all tasks are primary factors in her solid academic record. Her 93.42GPA was earned in a challenging course load that has both depth and breadth; she has continuously challenged herself by enrolling in honors, college, and advanced placement classes whenever possible. Teacher comments support Jessica's academic success: "...excellent and searching mind...questions everything...has great interest in the world around her,” said her AP English teacher and “A devilish sense of humor...strong and bright...continuously strives to achieve even when covering the most difficult material," noted her college calculus instructor.

At Briarcliff High School, Jessica is a member of the Varsity Indoor Track and Spring Track teams; she participates in the long jump. Jessica has also participated in the Briarcliff High School Freshmen Mentor Program. Evening, weekend, and summer hours find Jessica working as a waitress, cashier, and hostess at the diner her father built and owns. Reflecting on her high school career Jessica admitted that she regrets not having the opportunity to join more clubs and activities. Even being on the track teams, competing at weekend meets, puts tremendous pressure on her family as weekend mornings are the busiest time for their restaurant. She does not want to find herself with similar regrets at the end of her college career, thus she vows that she will become more involved and enmeshed in her college community.

Jessica Milanokis has the ability, the motivation, the maturity, the emotional stability, the tenacity, the conscientiousness, the growth potential, and the personal qualities for success in an academically competitive college environment to prepare her for her future career. She is a salt of the earth, industrious young lady who will surely succeed in whatever she endeavors. Jessica is the kind of student that belongs on every college campus. I am confident that, should you accept her, she will bring credit to your school, as she has to ours, as she continues to bring credit to herself. Please accept her with my absolute strongest endorsement for admissions.

Sincerely, Mrs. Erin Ryan School Counselor
