Bronzeville Cultural CenterTo combat the food desert in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago, a multifacted scope was addressed to provide access to healthy food while also creating an economic catalyst to spur growth.
The approach taken involved creating a cultural center dedicated to the visual arts and cuisine, providing spaces for a cafe, restaurant, market, gallery, and educational spaces for both culinary and art programs. The exterior manifestation of the programs was developed to create an icon for the neighborhood and to advertise to the adjacent elevated trains.

Working with a 'real' client who formed the Haiti Sustainable Education organization, we were charged with creating a master plan for a K-12 boarding school in rural eastern Haiti. Taking into consideration the issues of community, feasibility, safety, and the needs of the children, the master plan was refined and then one aspect of the plan was developed in detail.
The core goals of the master plan were to create opportunities for and encourage social connections across the hilly site. The final focus of the project became a large, multi-use amphitheatre space which acts as the public interface of the school on its public side while facilitating circulation and activity.
