Complete each activity in the Remote Learning Packet. Be sure to read all
texts and complete activities thoughtfully and thoroughly.
Parents/Guardians, you are encouraged to assist in the following ways:
● Make a plan to complete the activities. These pages should not be
done all at once as they are created for April 20th - May 18th.
● Provide a time and quiet space for your child to work on these
assignments.
● Help your child to complete the activities if he or she needs support.
● Review and discuss your child’s responses.
● Provide positive feedback and praise.
● Ensure your child understands the directions to each problem and
listen to him/her read.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your child’s
teacher through email. The teacher’s email can be found under “Contact
Us” and “School Directory” on your child’s school website.

Plans
Parents/Caretakers/Students you may bring your art work with you
when we return to school or email a picture to your teacher or
principal.
Grade 2: Week 1: Butterfly Pattern Mosaic
Parents/Caretakers/Student: Spring is here! Flowers are blooming! Birds
are singing! And Butterflies are returning.
What do Butterflies look like? Butterflies have large, often brightly
coloured wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight.
Look at the beautiful patterns of these butterflies! Look at the colors, Wow!
How can we use repetition of geometric shapes to create a pattern that could look like
the patterns found on butterfly wings?
Art Project: Students will draw geometric shapes (circle, triangle, square, diamond, etc)
in a repeating pattern inside a butterfly.
Directions:
1. You will use the butterfly template (provided below) to trace or draw
a butterfly free hand.
2. You will draw a geometric shaped pattern inside the wings of your
butterfly.
3. Using materials found at home you can either cut out the mosaic
pieces from a magazine, construction paper, or tissue paper and
paste on to the butterfly template or color geometric shapes into a
pattern directly on to the butterfly.
4. You will create more geometric shape patterns around the butterfly in
the background and color their images.
Grade 2- Week 2
VISUAL ARTS LESSON PLAN Grade 2 - Zentangle Fish
Fish are a class of aquatic vertebrates. The combination of gills, fins and the fact that
they live only in the water make fish different from all other animals. Fish spend all of
their lives in the water and are cold-blooded with the exception of the Tuna family and
the Mackerel shark family. Look on the internet to find out more about the anatomy of a
fish and where they live.
ART PROJECT:
Materials: Paper and pencil. (if you have colors you may use)
Begin to draw your large fish.
Now using the different types geometric shapes triangle, diamonds, oval; squares etc.
If you have colored pencils, markers, or crayons us can do this in color. Otherwise
pencil and white paper are fine. Draw lines in shapes to create a zentangle over the
entire fish.
What is a zentangle? The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way
to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns,
tangles. ... Zentangle art is non-representational and unplanned so you can focus on
each stroke and not worry about the result.
Aim: How can you combine geometric shapes to make a big decorative
zentangle fish?
Goal: Begin to draw the outline of a large triangle fish with triangle fins and
tail. Using a triangle will make it easier to make the fish parts. You can
curve the lines to make it more life-like if you like. Use other geometric
shapes to add patterns to the fish. If color is available you may use it.

Grade 2-Week 3- Transportation
Transportation is made possible in many different ways.
Students are going to research different objects used for transporting
people, food, mail, and so much more.
We are going to use geometric shapes to draw the type of
transportation you choose.
Geometric Shapes are:
AIM: How can we use geometric shapes to draw examples of transportation?
Art Project:
MATERIALS: Paper and pencil.
(Optional: crayons, color pencils or markers to color)
Students will create a form of transportation using geometric shapes.
Directions:
1. Begin with a blank sheet of paper. Practice drawing the following GEOMETRIC
shapes.
●
2. Choose a form of transportation you would like to draw.
● Examples: bus, car, bicycle, scooter, moped, motorcycle, airplane,
hot-air balloon, tricycle.
3. Draw your chosen mode of transportation using only geometric shapes.
Be sure that all of your shapes are clear and have the correct number of sides.
Add details to your object such as handles, mirrors, hubcaps, keypads, steering
wheels….
*Use the images provided to practice drawing geometric shapes.
Grade 2- Week 4-GEOMETRIC SHAPES: City scape
What is a cityscape? In the visual arts a cityscape (urban landscape) is an artistic
representation, such as a painting, drawing, print or photograph, of the physical
aspects of a city or urban area
AIM: How can we use geometric shapes to draw an example of a landscape?
Art Project: Students will draw a landscape using geometric shapes.
Directions:
1. Students will search on the internet to look at cityscapes. What Geometric
Shapes can be used to draw what you see from your house?
2. Students will draw a cityscape with various geometric shapes.
3. Students will add details and color to their artwork..

Subject Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Visual Art Grade 1
Students will record three sentences about fire dept. WHEN and HOW do we contact? What number do we call? Fire
Students will Google images of a fire truck if necessary . Divide your paper with a horizon line (across paper
Student will add more details to drawing. Background scenery. Is truck traveling on street to location, on site at a burning
Students will write a brief sentence describing what your drawing depicts. Example: My fire truck is on it’s way to a school in my
Students will complete drawing using colored pencils, crayons, markers, or watercolor.

building, in fire house being cleaned and restored? Add ladders, hose, firefighter, building, street etc as you deem fit.
neighborhood where there is an alarm sounded. Outline the images with a colored pencil or fine marker.
Remember...red is a primary color, is associated with the fire dept/ trucks.
Visual Art Grade 2
SWAT research/google honey bees and season of Spring. Note observations . Students can watch tutorials on drawing a honeybee if desired.
SWAT draw and cut out a hexagon shape roughly two inches in size. Begin tracing and connecting these hexagon shapes to create the background of our illustration. Imagine it is the inside of the bee’s honeycomb.
SWAT outline connected hexagon shapes with a fine marker or colored pencils. Shade in sides darker . when coloring ...all hexagons can be the same color...or you may color each whatever color you wish.
SWAT draw an image of a honeybee. Add details to body that you observed in your research. Upon completion of image, outline it as you did hexagons, cut out honeybee carefully.
SWAT add color to honeybee cut out. Adhere a cotton ball, a tiny plastic cube, a balled piece of paper, etc to the BACK of the honeybee. Attach to your honeycomb background. You now have a dimensional piece.
Visual Art Grade 3 & Grade 4
SWAT identify and draw 3dimensional shapes (as studied in their respective homeroom). Google images of 3shapes-cone, cylinder, sphere, cube, rectangular prism.
SWAT identify and connect to everyday objects that are of shape. Ex: sphere- globe, cube- dice List at least three respective of cone, sphere, cylinder, cube
SWAT illustrate an object for each designated three dimensional shape. They may be done on four separate sheets ..or combined in one picture (such as a birthday party)
SWAT outline images with colored pencil or fine marker. Add pattern or texture when possible. Ex: a gift (cube)can have patterned paper
SWAT Color images as they like with crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc On back of paper make a key naming objects/3D shape
