Employment

May 2010 – present Runwild Media

Freelance Deputy EditorIn May of this year I was commissioned by Runwild Media to work and help launch ‘Vantage’ magazine, a glossy, lifestyle production for the North West London area. The role involves:• Writingfeaturesandreviews• Sourcingandwritingleadinterviews• Sourcinglocalcontentfortheinterior, beautyandsocialpagesMy role as Deputy Editor is a job that I do along side my role as Editor for The City & Angel magazine and involvesmegettingcopyinontimeandfindinglocalcontentforparticularsectionsofthemagazine.Iamalso solely in charge of writing the lead interview for every issue.

June 2009 – present Zest Media

Freelance EditorIn June of last year I was commissioned by Zest Media to help launch ‘The City & Angel’ magazine, a glossy, lifestyle production for the North London area. The role involves:• writingfeaturesandreviews• sourcingandinterviewinginterestingpeoplelivinginthispartofLondon• producingeditorialrangingfrominteriors, health&beautytocultureandcelebrityinterviews• organizingphotoshootsandworkingwithawiderangeofphotographers.I am responsible for all editorial content; I plan every issue and write almost all of the features for the regu-lar pages, as well as being in charge of commissioning freelancers. I am in charge of signing off all editorial pages, including the sales features on press day and working closely with the design team. I meet the month-ly deadlines and since The City and Angel began life with a very limited budget my editorial content spend has had to be very carefully managed.

September 2007 – May 2009 Archant Life

Assistant EditorThis position involved writing features, reviews, interviews and advertorials for several local magazines in north London on subjects ranging from fashion, health & beauty to celebrity interviews and interiors. Part of my role was to seek out local celebrities to arrange interviews, as well as working closely with the sales

team to arrange reviews and interviews with people within the local community. I was responsible for plan-ning the lead interview, planning and writing most of the features for the regular pages and commissioning freelancers. I also organised the photo shoots, working closely with photographers on ideas and concepts for the fashion pages and front covers. Once again, there was a very tight budget but I learned to do good quality work with limited resources, which is often the most fun and challenging way.

March 2007 – July 2007 News International

Covering Editorial Assistant for ‘Sunday’, News of the World weekend magazineI gained broad experience in magazine journalism working in this position as an Editorial Assistant with ‘Sunday’ weekend magazine for The News of the World. Sunday was a weekly magazine (now Fabulous) focusing on real life, celebrity interviews, fashion and travel. I carried out research for the features depart-ment and wrote for several of the regular pages, such as the travel topic. My position also involved dealing with PR companies, meeting with their representatives, attending press launches as well as dealing with the department’s administration including organising the invoices.

December 2005 – March 2007 News International

Freelance Sub Editor at the Sun, TV MagazineOver a period of two years I worked at the Sun TV Magazine doing subbing shifts which entailed proofread-ing, subbing pages, making text corrections, researching any extra details for the features and writing head-lines. Subbing provided me with some very valuable experience – my own copy became much more concise, it taught me to meet tight weekly deadlines and improved my use of Quark Express.

September 2006 - January 2007 Sunday Times

Freelance writer for Insideout magazineIworkedasanoffice-basedfreelancewriterforInsideoutwhichwasaglossyinteriorsmagazineownedbythe Sunday Times. I wrote regular articles, sourced stories, carried out research for the Editor and helped to call in products for shoots.
