RELEVANT PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE ADC Midlands, Northamptonshire May 2011 - Present Part II Architectural Assistant My role involves communicating with both clients and contractors to resolve issues and to deliver projects on time. While in this role I have assisted in the formation of contracts and in the arrangement and settlement of fees. For example, in the first project that I was involved in this year, I had to liaise with the client and contractor to set up the contract and later with the contractor, services engineer and local authority to resolve issues with the groundworks. I have also had the opportunity to meet with clients to discuss project briefs and to work up concept ideas as well as meeting with the local housing officer and residents’ association to present our designs for their approval, which have so far been successful. I have been instrumental in completing the working drawings and specifying the appropriate materials and fixtures to meet the specification for a new local restaurant, while being responsible for the pre-planning documents, which often includes working up massing studies and preliminary concept design for client feasibility studies, design and access statements, impact and justification statements, planning history reports, waste management studies and energy and sustainability reports as well as the accompanying planning drawings.

AGN Design and Build, Northamptonshire June 2008 - September 2009 Part I Architectural Assistant My role primarily involved the research and writing of feasibility studies, concept design and the resolution and submission of planning applications, with additional work on building regulations drawings and site and building surveys, in which I was often the team leader.

B3 Burgess, Leicester June 2007 - October 2007 Architectural Assistant During my time at B3, I primarily worked singlehandedly on surveys and concept design for a large project for the conversion of grade 2* listed Derby School of Art and during this time I also undertook several smaller concept design projects for a village hall and nursery scheme, and had the opportunity to accompany the architect when he was conducting quinquennial reports.

Wakerley Owl SanctuaryLeicester School of Architecture

1.50 Part Section and Elevation

Set on the edge of Wakerley woods, the owl sanctuary blends into the trees in a series of winding walkways and treehouses. The building provides a single site to promote the rescue and rehabilitation of the local long eared owl.

Visitors can meander around the sanctuary to view the staff at work and the rescued birds; those which are currently being released as well as those who may never be well enough for complete independence, but will always have a home in the sanctuary grounds.

In the heart of Edinburgh, on the Royal Mile, the House of Stories is a haven in which to rediscover the joy of the spoken word; as the inhabitant moves through the building they progress through different stages of childhood, each stage provides a different environment in which to tell stories from the first cosy room for only a couple of people for intimate stories to the final space that can hold large story telling sessions- ideal for an interactive or dramatised event.

Based on a possibly not so distant digital future, the Living Home is an analysis of the way entire lives could be lived out on a sigle plot. With news and product feeds that digitally fulfill all human needs, there is no need to ever leave.

The hive like design allows additional units to be bought and sold as the family grows and adapts.

Perspective views

Leighton Road, CorbyResidential development for Corby Borough Council consisting of 7 houses and a bungalow to CfSH Level 3 and to meet HQi standards. I have been heavily involved in the concept design and development for this site and took it for presentation to the Housing Officer for approval.

Stephenson Way, CorbyThis site has been through many briefs for the developer; including sheltered accomodation, private apartments and is currently undergoing a feasability study for social houses. I was able to present this project at the residents’ meeting and q&a session.

Caudwell House, NottinghamshireA sensory pavillion in the grounds of a residential home for disabled children. I have been involved in discharging planning conditions, organising the contract and responding to on site problems.

Red Hill Farm, WellingboroughThe planning application for the new Balti House was for a rear flue and front signage, but I was also responsible for designing the internal layout, the working drawings and specifying fixures and fittings for the client.

School Lane, KetteringA local developer has recently bought an extended victorian property with large gardens in Kettering town centre that we are looking to develop into a site of 4-5 houses. I have been solely responsible for all the design work and documentation for this project.
